What is a "fuel trim malfunction"?
I have a 1998 Mitsubishi Galant with a 2.4 liter engine. The check engine light is on and when I run an OBD2 test on it, it gives a code of PO170, fuel trim malfunction. I do all of my own repairs, but not sure what this is. Please help.

The code is set if a malfunction in the fuel system occurs, and the fuel compinsation value becomes too large or small. Things that can cause that are vacuum leaks incorect fuel pressure bad oxygen sensor bad bad injector any thing that can effect the air fuel mixture.
