Were Adam and Eve not set up to fail?
I have a young toddler, just learning her way around. I put a batch of fresh tasty cookies on the coffee table, just in her reach. Then I tell her, "Don't touch these cookies! You are not allowed to have any cookies!" Then I leave the room. I know the baby is gonna take a cookie. I put them where she could easily get them. The cookies are there, the babe is there. I watched her eat it from the other room. As soon as she's finished I return, angry. Because she ate the cookie I throw her out of the house. I lock the doors and tell her she's on her own. I tell her it's for her own good and she has no right to question my motives. Am I a loving parent?

The only problem I have with the little Garden off Eden story is that neither Adam or Eve were smart enough to grab some life fruit after eating from the tree of knowledge. The trees were right beside each other and if they had time to go sew some quick clothes up for themselves, then logic would state they would've reached for the tree of life. But that would've screwed up the whole story I guess.

If the door remained locked then you would not be a loving parent.
But on the other hand if you put a plan in effect that included showing her right from wrong, being with her always, lovingly guiding her through all lifes pitfalls and finally when her disobedience had been delt with welcomed her back into her home.... Then, yes you would be a loving parent.
Whether we realise it or not as parents, we often behave like God in respect to our children......

Yeah
Here's the passage:
Genesis 3:5 (King James Version)
"5For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil."
Satan was telling the truth. Do you not understand the truth about the Fall of Man? Man had to eat the fruit of the tree of good and evil. God commanded them to not eat of the fruit and that's the sin that they committed. Adam and Eve were meant to eat that fruit, God knew that humans had to suffer and and eventually die, in order to fulfill their destiny. Without the fall of man, Christ would not have been able to save us. It was all part of God's plan and it is a necessary step that needed to happen.
"Genesis 1:26
And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness..."
"Genesis 1:27
So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them."
In the passages above, we see that God made us in His image. That means that YOU are what He is and He is what you are. You are His child. He didn't randomly make human beings, he made creatures that were of the same kind as He was.
It means God is not some big blob or a fog. That makes absolutely no sense. How can you believe God is just some invisible thingee that floats somewhere in space? That's beyond any explanation, because there is no explanation to explain such an idea. Think about it, really. Just sit think and about what God really is, for awhile. The words in the Bible are quite clear on this subject.
Satan was actually describing something that actually happens, why would he say something so random at that moment? The sin they committed was in doing what God told them not to do.
It was all part of God's plan, that's why Satan existed.

ok, I see your point.
Adam is representative of the masculine (father spirit).
Eve represents feminine (mother earth).
In this example there is a marriage of Spirit to Matter. (so Adam has a Wife).
Anyways...as physical spirit beings...they begin to thirst for understanding and hunger for meaning. They seek to remember the Knowledge of who they are now and from whence they have come.
So they begin to "learn" about themselves, and each other, and they begin to remember that they were born of spiritual light.
They eat the cookies and drink the milk and carry on in their new found understanding of the human form, what it is, what it can do...and they begin to create, learning how to use their own power every step of the way.
The beauty of it all is...we're still doing it.

The only difference is that there really is purpose in what God did.
If not....
We would not be born.
We would not have been able to have physical bodies, which we will keep after we are resurrected.
Adam and Eve would not have been able to progress in life, learning wrong from right, joy from pain.
They would have been eternally "infant". God's plan for us was much much bigger. He wants us to live, and have bodies, grow and learn and become more like him (as all parents want for their children).
Its not like some people think of it as some eternal "grounding" for being bad. But, it did have to come of their choice. As a result of their actions.
Its like calling a parent bad because they cast out their children to college! A good parent would let them live at home in the basement, drooling on themselves and living stagnent, because "punishing them" by sending them out into the world is "mean."

Oh, for sure - right, here you have two adults surrounded by all they can eat, perhaps hundreds of trees and all kinds of vegetables to eat from from a cultivated garden set up just for them, and the gardener tells them 'out of all these only one is my own- it's private, don't touch' -- I mean such a test is just mean and sooo hard. Nobody at all could not fail fail fail this test, ( I guess I have a stutter )

Adam and Eve were not toddlers. They were Perfect human beings. Which means their brain must have functioned better than the smartest one of us today. They had it all. And only one simple rule.
Eve was tricked into sinning due to her greedy nature -- Adam decided to sin because he loved Eve more than God.

God knew that humans would sin. It was His plan all along to redeem us. Just as Adam and Eve lost man's and woman's dignity, respectively, through their disobedience, Jesus, the New Adam, and the Virgin Mary, the New Eve, restored man's and woman's dignity, respectively, through their perfect obedience to the Divine Will.
God bless!
