who taught these birds trigonometry?

the last couple catfishing trips up to the lake, I ran into some evidently educated coots (mudhens).

I'm sure they are aware of the water depth. I got no problem with that.

but when they look at the angle of my line entering the water, they swim right out to where my bait is resting on the bottom and dive right down to it. this has happened multiple times. what's up with that?

    I believe they got used to associating anglers as a food source. I remember this guy caught a pelican who scooped down to grab his mackeral

    IDK I dont fish, but I tought the Birds Trigonometry, and Im only 14!
