According to Basic Strategy you hit if the dealer is showing a two or three. This comes from this scenario being run millions of times. Now just because that's what you are suppose to do doesn't mean you will win. Another thing to keep in mind is if you decide to go against Basic Strategy by hitting when the dealer shows a two or a three, then always do it. If you change it up by hitting one time, staying next time, staying the time after that, and then hitting the time after that, then you will turn the odds against you even more. Now obviously if you an expert card count then you will have a different strategy all together.
Good Luck at the tables,

The average value of any card in a deck of blackjack is 6.5.
So if the dealer has a 2 or 3 showing then the dealer could have a six or seven down because of the average value.
Hit your hard 12 and hit it every single time. When you have a 10-2 your average value is 6. So, why can't the dealer have the same average as you?

The biggest strategy mistake most bad blackjack players make is trying to rationalize what plays they should make. They think they need a reason other than the only one that matters, which is that basic strategy tells you to do it.
You hit here because the MATH says so. That's all you need to know. If you question basic strategy, then all you're doing is taking more money out of your own pocket.
I think a lot of people fail to realize what a favorable position they're in when they are dealt a 12, too. You're only going to bust when you hit a 12 about 30% of the time. 38% of the time you're going to make a hand of 17 or better, so you're actually more likely to make a decent hand than to bust out. The odds are so good for you when you're dealt a 12, that it is in fact often correct to hit against a 14!! (this requires card counting though, which I won't get into).

You always always hit, you have to stay with that stratedy when the dealer has a face showing, never go back and forth, of course you are going to bust sometimes but probably 75-80 percent of the time you won't bust, basic blackjack just says that you always hit when the dealer has a face, and I live by the system it can be nervewrecking it alway's is especially when i have a 6 but it works better than staying, and thats why they call it gambling i would suppose!
