HELP!! I'm not much of a baker ........?

I'm making cookies for my son's class and the recipe says to sift together the flour and baking soda but I don't have a sifter -- any tricks of the trade you can share?

    Do you have a mesh strainer?

    Do you have a wire strainer? Put the flour and baking soda in there and then shake it over the bowl tapping the side gently until everything has SIFTED through the strainer.

    A fine strainer will do. Rub the flour through with a spoon
