Will India ever have a one child policy?
china has a one child policy so the population is stabilising at 1.3 billion and will soon begin to fall but what about india? India has a current population of aroiund 1.1 or 1.2 billion and it is growing rapidly so will the same thing happen to India in the future to prevent overcrowding?

The one Child Policy in China is possible because the country is a ruthless dictatorship. It's hard to imagine a democracy beingable to do this. Imagine if Obama proosed legislation that made it a crime to have more than one child. Can you imaginethe uproar? Do you think he would get re-elected? What would we as a society do when (inevitably) people accidentally had a second child. Mandatory abortion? No one who was pro-life would support that, and anyone who was sincerely pro-choice would have problems with this as well.
There are a lt of logistical issues with a one child policy, and it is very hard to imagine a democracy being able to do it.
FYI, traditional Chinese culture also they also "recognised having a lot of children, as a blessing" and relied on havingmany children as a way to support the elderly. Also, it is a little known fact that prior to the "One Child Policy" Mao advocated people having as many children as possible because he felt shear numbers was China's best defense against nuclear weapons. (the theory was no one could kill all of them). The one child policy was in part a response to the mess this earlier policy created.

Hard to say as the Indian culture recognises having a lot of children, as a blessing. Poverty in India is widespread with the nation estimated to have a third of the world's poor. Indian families rely of having large families to support the elderly.

Need that law here in Houston, with the Hispanic teenage females, they are popping them out like its going out of style. Houston a few months ago became the teenage pregnancy capital of America, not a title im proud of.
