Why am I too tired to go to bed. It is 3:00 a.m. and here I sit.?

I used to work nights and can't get out of the habit of staying up all night. That was 3 years ago and I still can't stop. I get up at 7 - - any suggestions?

I'm the same way. I worked night shift for an entire year and I have temptations to stay up all night now.

What I do is exercise and tire myself out or drink a lot of water. (doing that's supposed to eliminate electrolytes as it leaves your body and tire you out)

  • Boring radio talk shows can help. Reading tax law books. Forcing yourself to do these things might help. Are you thinking about what you should be getting done or what should've happened in the past also?

There can be many different reasons apparently.

I saw a tv show sleep deprivation in teenagers. To help reset the sleeping patterns they turned of all electronic entertainment equipment 1 hour before sleep. Did something distracting such as reading and turn of all lights except maybe a reading lamp. Apparently bright lights wake us up too.

Sounds easier said than done I know but i never tried it. I tried some hippy sounding alternate therapy and it worked.

Fall asleep watching tv. Usually work. The human body is not supposed to be up at night, don't know why people work night shifts. It seems more convenient sometimes. You have to get your internal clock right again.

Make yourself lay down at a decent hour. take a shower, read a book then lay in bed with the lights off. music turned down if you have to have it. even if you aren't tired and lay there for a couple hours before falling asleep. it is worth it! then get up at your normal time. keep this up for a week or two and your body will retrain itself. it will be frustrating at first.

make your room as dark and possible and go to bed earlier. read a book then turn off the lights. let the darkness do its work on you.

because if you are in bed you will begin to feel sleepy.

but do not get out of bed stay in bed.

You must be here in the Midwest. I just woke up. You have to reset your body chemistry to your current lifestyle. I sometimes use YA to tire myself out. Hope that works for you.
