This can vary. If the bearing is seized on the pinion it could get more expensive. To remove the pinion and replace the inner pinion bearing and race requires the differential/pumpkin to be removed. Both axles need to be removed prior to the differential. This can run around 500 to 600 bucks. However, if the problem is the outer bearing, race, and seal it should only cost around 200.
Replacing the inner bearing takes longer and requires more replacement parts. In most cases, I have found that the problem isn't the pinion bearing, but a u-joint in the driveshaft. In 85' GM used non servicable u-joints on all makes and models. These tend to dry out and destroy the roller bearing inside the u-joint caps. This wear will cause slop in the driveline, which is noticable by a clunk will shifted to drive and a vibration that increases while driving. Hope this helps. Christopher
A u-joint costs about 15bucks and can be replaced for about 50. If you replace one u-joint, replace them both. You will be greatful down the road.

depends on the shop and what they charge per hour, I wouldn't think over $150. $200.
