Plants humming birds are attracted to?
Specifically I'm looking for the name of a plant (bush?) with purple flowers, about 6-8 feet tall.
There is one down the street that is blooming now (Dec. Southern Calif) , I saw a humming bird feeding off it.
There are 50-100 tiny purple flowers crowding around the tips of branches sticking up.
Small leaves, little or no fragrance. Help me please.

I'm in northern CA and I'm thinking "Mexican Sage". http://images.google.com/images?hl=en&rls=com.micr... The only thing is that it gets to be about 4 feet here.
Or, maybe it's "Spanish Lavender" http://images.google.com/images?hl=en&rls=com.micr... The only thing is it's about 4 feet too or "Pride of Madera" http://images.google.com/images?hl=en&rls=com.micr... Now it's pretty tall. Ours isn't blooming yet but you are in a warmer area, hope I helped. The hummers love all three!

The flowers might be gesneriaceae. You can see some of them by clicking the flower below.
