Suggestions for names for our son? Any and all suggestions welcome!?
Hi there!
My hubby and I aren't pregnant, but are thinking about it. We have four names for girls that we absolutely love, but we've only decided on one boy name! We love names that sound Italian or Spanish, and they have to flow nicely with our last name Yslas (pronounced Ee-slas).
These are the names we love, just to give you an idea of what style we like.
Elena Aolani
Isabella Oriana
Sofia Vianae
Isadora Marielle
Alessandro Tomas
Thanks in advance, and happy 2010!!
:)

Great names! We are in the same (or similar) boat (not pregnant but planning soon) and have lots of girls names we like but not boys and they need to go with our Italian last name.
Your choices are great. Isadora would be the one I'm least crazy about but it's still pretty...just not one of my faves.
Boy names are really tough. A lot of the Italian names we like seem girly in America (Daniel, their version of Daniel, looks more like Danielle, for example). Alessandro is great. I love Alessandra for a female as well.
I personally like Raffaele and even to an extent Daniele (yes, even though it looks like Danielle so I'd probably just spell it Daniel, which is my brother's name as well), and I like Giovanni and Giancarlo. I'm sick and tired on Angelo and Vincent (there are a million of them in my hubby's family). Oh, yeah, I love Matteo/Mateo too. I forget which spelling is Italian and which is Spanish but that's a great name!

Alessandro Tomas is one strong Italian name right there (:
I would suggest, since 3/5 of those names are Italian (except for the Spanish one and the German one) that you check out:
Draco, Raphael, Marcus, Jacques, Keevan, Stefan...oops, too french. But still those are some of my faves(: Good Luck finding a great name!

Mateo is one of my favorites. I think Mateo Yslas sounds very cool! I also love Anthony [or Antonio if you prefer] and Dominic.
Other neat Latin names:
-- Brando
-- Gian [my brother's name is John, but we spell it "Gian"]
-- Angelo
-- Lucio
-- Rocco
-- Carlo
-- Salvatore
-- Franco
I think Salvatore and Sofia would be a beautiful sibling-set!

isabella is right OUT the door... too tooo common these days!!!!!!
it's so horrible how people can do that to there child.
doom them to a life of being so common and boring with there name. :(
i think when you pick your names, you'll KNOW you love them!!!!!!!
i've had the girl name picked out for YEARS, my boyfriend always knew i'd never give up my girl name, and he loves it too. :)
so i allowed him to pick the boy name... well he picked a name, and i changed it a little bit... took off some letters... he LOVED it, i LOVED it right away.
and now i would never give up my names!!!!!!
i think if you find the name you want, you'll know.
