I own and shoot the Marlin 795. For a really cheap .22 LR (often for as little as $100 new if you find a good sale), it's quite a good rifle.

It's one major drawback is that there is little to be had in the way of customizable parts. You can't find anything more than that 10 round magazine.

Still, other than adding a Rimfire scope, mine is still stock, and I've had a lot of fun with it.

As I understand it, the Marlin 60 is essentially the same gun, but it has a tubular magazine that holds something like 14 rounds, rather than a box magazine. I would have bought that, but it sold for $60 more.

Marlin 795. Good quality .22 rifles. I still have the one I got 22 years ago.

The Marlin 795 is probably going to be the better option.

    Marlin hands down.

Marlin makes the finest rimfire rifles in the world... inexpensive, very well constructed, and amazingly accurate.

Mossberg? Meh. They should stick with budget shotguns. Rifles aren't exactly their game.

Marlin Microgroove. It's made everything else in the rimfire world obsolete.

you cannot go wrong with either. Look into a Marlin 60 or a 10/22 Ruger also.

The Marlin is made in USA. The Mossberg is made in Brazil. Also consider the Savage 64f that is also made in the USA and I think it is better than the other two.

i just received a marlin 722 for christmas.....the sight on the mossberg is better, and it is camo. however i like the marlin alot to, cant go wrong. also marlin has micro groove rifling, so if you like that then go for the marlin.
