What will my dermatologist do on my first visit?
I have 3 blemishes on my face that need looked at and am curious about what will happen during my first visit to a dermatologist. Male, age 62.......thanks!

Obviously, he will examine your blemishes. But in additon, he'll take a medical history, a drug history, and depending upon the doctor, he may want to do a full body exam to make sure that there are no suspicious lesions elsewhere on your body that you are not aware of. After that, he'll discuss with you what the blemishes are, their cause, and their treatment (with options, if more than one treatment is available.)

they will probably do a visual exam and talk to you about what he/she thinks might be the problem
