Rephrase: Which one is more difficult: military basic training or jail/prison?

Apologies for the last question I posted. I meant which one is harder in comparison to the difficulty/stress levels associated with each of the environments. By no means am I comparing a prisoner with a military service member.

And I dislike people who assume just because I'm on Y!A that I've never been to basic training. I went through basic training during 2004 in Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri, B-310.

PRISON/JAIL- that person is already doing time, his trial is over, and he knows where he is and what he is doing. Other than running around the cell to get away from Big Bubba.

Military basic- the DI is breathing down your neck, you have to meet requirements, you face the unknown, and never know what is next. At times, you think you are not getting enough sleep, and at times not enough to eat, not to mention, for the young kid, who has never left home and his experience is a DI in his face day in and day out.

Military has it hands down, but I would do it all over again.

Never been to prison But done 2 lost of recruit training and i retired at 55 and some of my school mate kept on going to prison one has been in prison for 30 years all up and is currently doing 7 to 10 so i would say prison was easier because they keep going Back

Basic Training is only nine weeks. Most prison terms are longer. And it would depend on the type of prison, really. There's SuperMax, where life is very unpleasant, versus minimum security prisons where life's not too bad at all.

If you compared nine weeks of prison to Basic Training, you might have a better comparison. But I've never actually been to prison, so I couldn't tell you which was worse anyway. ;)

I've never been to prison, but I'm pretty sure prison is the harder of the two. You can't be proud of being in prison. You don't have to worry about Bubba raping you in the shower in the military. And the only confidence that you'll gain in prison is that you're still alive. The military, as I'm sure you already know, builds your personal confidence, strength, ability to cope with things, and pays you while doing it. I hope you're not looking for a way to get into prison.

Basic training is between 8 and 13 weeks depending on the branch.

Prison is measured out in years.

Everyone that is there elected to go there.

Nobody chooses to serve hard time.

New recruits are paid to be there.

10 cents an hour in the prison laundry...

When they get out of basic training they are going off to train for a job of their choice.

When you get out of prison you might get a job working fast food or go back to crime.

Girls like a man in uniform.

    Prison is *** rape central.

Well, basic is only 8 to 12 weeks and you gain more freedom, so to speak, after graduation , so I would say basic would be the better of the two.

I would say basic is more difficult, because you have to do all sorts of physical things, compared to prison where you could be forced to do physical "activities", but other than being raped you just lay around and be lazy until your time is up

They both suck in such different ways that I cannot even fathom how someone could answer your question.

However, in the service at least you are doing something worhwhile for your health and mind and not just rotting in a cell.
