Lexus ES versus Acura RSX: Which is the best overall car to own (see details)?
Hey guys,
I am comparing the Lexus ES and Acura RSX. Which is a better overall car, specifically in the following areas: fuel economy, crash test safety, and dependability (less likely to need major repairs)? Your help is appreciated.

Even though I believe the ES is the "worst" Lexus, I'd still choose it over the Acura RSX. Like others mentioned above, the RSX is more performance oriented. The ES is more of a boulevard cruiser.
The ES is the safest and the most dependable. It also has the smoothest ride too.

Wow. They are completely different cars, really. But, a few things:
-The RSX was discontinued a few years ago, the ES is still made.
-They are both front wheel drive, luxury marquess.
-They are both very well built and should be very dependable. It's probably a tie there, other than the ES having the larger engine (tighter fit) and more computer control may make it more expensive to repair. Both are based on very common cars, however, so finding parts shouldn't be tough.
Other than that...
-The RSX is essentially a performance tuned, sport compact built on the Civic chassis. It is designed for people who love to drive and love feeling the engaging response it offers. Others will likely find it rides too hard as a daily driver (but we'll avoid saying bad things about those people).
-The ES is a Lexus/Toyota, and like most of them, is designed to give a much softer, cushier ride, and it's based on the similarly soft and cushy Camry. If you're more interested in luxury and a nice, easy cruise, this is likely your preference.
-Also, the ES, like nearly every modern car, will have a lot of computer control between the driver and car. This can help a lot of people with things like traction and braking, but for me it's still a disconnect. The RSX was probably the last Acura (and even Honda) to not have things like electronic throttle control, which replaced the throttle cable with electronic sensors. There's still quite a bit of computer processing in there, but it hasn't replaced cables.
-Since the RSX appeals mainly to men in their early 20s, finding one that hasn't been riced and/or abused can be tough. Good thing they are so well made. Since the ES appeals mainly to people who want a fancy Camry, it's much easier to find one that's been treated gently.
-You may not have to worry about the cost of insurance, since you're in this market segment, but the RSX is one of the most expensive cars to insure. (I think it's second only to the Subaru WRX in non-exotic cars).
-So, to sum up, if you love driving and want a sports compact, it's the RSX. If you want a luxury cruiser, it's the ES.

THE LEXUS IS WAY MORE RELIABLE THAN THE ACURA. BRAND NEW LEXUS OFFER 7 YEARS OR 70,000 MILES COMPARES TO ACURA 3 YEARS OR 36,000 MILES WARRANTY. LEXUS IS MORE EASIER TO PERFORM MAINTENANCE THAN ACURA WHICH REDUCE COST. I PREFER TO FIX LEXUS THAN ACURA BECAUSE IT IS EASIER TO WORK ON WHICH REDUCE MYSELF LESS STRESS .LEXUS TECHNOLOGY IS MORE ADVANCE THAN ACURA WHICH INCREASE USE LESS GAS. HINT: THE HIGHER THE MANUFACTURE WARRANTY, THE MORE RELIABLE THEY ARE.
