Atheists: would you be willing to die as a testimony of your conviction of a lack of God?

If you could sacrifice your life to bring others to this knowledge of the truth that you've obtained,

would you do it?

No, unlike Christians we have no agenda to convert anyone to our way of thinking. I just plain don't care what superstitious nonsense other people want to believe.

    This is a silly question.

Partly because you have neglected a matter that is not often approached - how many atheists do you think have died in defence of this country to allow us the freedoms that we currently enjoy?

Without the sacrifices made by others during wars and others made on a daily basis by the people who provide us with our emergency services, what kind of a nation would we be?

I do not believe that it is a requirement to sign the believer clause in an armed forces or emergency services contract.

    What a horrific question.

I would not die as an attempt to convince others that my beliefs are correct. For one, my beliefs are null, so why would I care if others take that stance?

You only live once. Religious people may believe there's another life after this one, but atheists tend to believe in just that one life. Why squander it?

I don't care if someone else believes in God/Vishnu/etc. More power to him. I'm not going to go out of my way too terribly much to convince him that his religion is wrong.

Now, I wouldn't mind giving my life if it guaranteed no more oppression by Christians, Muslims, Hindus, etc. That would be a worthy goal.

If there was someway to come back from the dead and let you all know that once you are dead, thats it, and that there is no god. Then yes, I would be willing to sacrifice myself. but then I wouldn't really believe that death is final would I.

No way I would say I believe in God run and then not believe in a fictional man somewhere else

Usually it is only the religious that believe in dying for there believe. Few things are worth my life.

    I WOULD DO IT!

But only if I was old, I'd definately have euthanasia when I'm tired of life.

Just the fact that if God exists I'll go to hell for having euthanasia. But I'd definately do it to prove a point.

    Hell no that's crazy talk.

I find Christians desire to freaking DIE for a magic belief hilarious.

No, martyrdom doesn't make as much sense when you don't have to worry about suffering for all eternity.
