Yes, to an extent. I'm not a nihilist.

However, the only person who can truly claim "life is precious" is the one who wouldn't kill an ant. I'm not that person.

The real question here should be: is death precious. Of course life would be precious...even if you believe that there is no real purpose for life. Because regardless of a purpose, people can still have a great and wonderful life. I'm just saying, theres a big difference between the opinion on life and death.

    Yes and yes.

We only have this one life. That's why it's even more precious to an atheist than to someone who believes in an afterlife.

Of course it's precious. Just because I don't believe in a higher authority or in a Heaven/Hell, doesn't mean life is meaningless. You only get one life, and it's completely irreplaceable - that alone makes it precious in my book.

Of course life is precious - all of us only get one life, and it's important to respect life, and make the most of the life you have.

In my view, nothing is more precious than life, because there is no other alternative to know the existential truth.

I am an agno-myst and believe all forms of life are important.

As an individual my life is precious to me and my wife, to a lesser extent my dog as well.

From a societal view life is cheap, as proven by current and historical events.

Because they don't believe in eternal life, I would think they feel this life is VERY precious, since they believe it's the only one they'll have.
