Who thinks Pat Robertson was right for what he said?

I know Rev Robertson often puts his foot in his mouth, but he is 100% right this time! It is historically true that Haiti made a pact with the power of darkness. Some of their presidents openly practiced witchcraft. One president (Dr. Duv????) led the folk into practicing it. Not just Haiti, but the bible says a nation will be turned into Hell who turns its back on him. This is not a Pat Robertson's statement; this is the word. There is a price to pay for practicing and playing with the power of darkness. Not only do you pay with the devil, but God is going to have his say. When I heard Haiti had an earthquake, I thought the very same thing that Pat Robertson said. I PERSONALLY WOULD NOT OVERTLY SAY IT WHEN THE EARTHQUAKE HIT BECAUSE THAT IS NOT HELPING THE FOLK OF HAITI. It is the word, but his timing was off. We have to use wisdom even when quoting scripture. We are suppose to use them to build up and edify. Saying it when earthquake first hits was not wise. There are those who do not practice Witchcraft in Haiti. There are innocent men, women, and children. He could have waited until the smoke blew over before saying anything. Again, Pat is not known for timing. When Coretta Scott King died, he totally ignored the news on his show. Ironically, it was the only news that particular day. His son is very compassion because he has the spirit of his mother. Mr. Robertson is old school Baptist, that often mixes hatred and holiness without regret.

I am starting to think so now. I was not aware of this type of witchcraft going on there. Mixing Christianity with voodoo.

So, what you are saying is that Haiti's troubles have nothing to do with being on a common path for hurricanes, or being on a geological fault. You are saying that those things are irrelevant.

What is causing all of this is the theology of their past leaders.

Well, the Swedes are pretty godless and their ancestors worshiped Odin, Thor and lots of other false gods.

How come they are not plagued by hurricanes, earthquakes, tsunamis and locusts?

Could it be that natural disasters have other causes, and that you and Pat Robertson are actually mucking forons?

To call Pat Robertson a schmuck would be an insult to foreskins.

it would seem that the world only thinks your are a good person if you have their values. Forget the fact that in The United States we have a bill of rights, constitution, and general religious freedom as well as freedom from persecution, right up until you say that you are a pagan or follow another belief all together. Now don't get me wrong i like being sarcastic to people of other beliefs but i never once tried to deny a person their rights to their own beliefs. And yes i am a satanist, and yes i think christianity is wrong but you do not see me or any TRUE satanists out there saying " oh you will suffer forever if you don't follow the father". I suppose my point in all of this is if you do not want others to do it to you then why do you go out of your way to do it to others? Just asking.

No, it's not "the word", it's a convoluted, hateful and bigoted interpretation of a historically disputed ceremony ("Bois Caiman") that allegedly kicked off the 1791 Haitian Revolution as a "pact with the devil".

    Dude - come on!

There was no "pact". That is yet another lie created by SOME Christians to belittle things they did not understand.

    Most Haitians are Catholic.

Last evening, in the middle of all of the chaos, there were large masses of people standing in the street singing praises and hymns to God.

If these people REALLY were in a pact with Satan:

    1. It would have already expired, and

    2. These people today would not have been part of it, and

    3. God does not punish people for the sins of their forefathers.

Please stop perpetuating these bigoted rantings about innocent people that have suffered more than you could ever imagine.

Jehovah ALWAYS warns the people BEFORE he brings about destruction. Then those who obey he saves.

Noah was a preacher of righteousness. Lot also warned the people. Only those who failed to listen were destroyed.

Events like Katrina and Haiti are indiscriminate, the wicked and righteous suffering equally. Had these events been from Jehovah, warnings would have been issued. (Amos 3:7)

That is why we preach the good news of the Kingdom, to warn the people before the end of this system, because Jehovah does not desire to destroy anyone! (2 Peter 3:9)

So no he was not right.

ALSO please read Genesis 18:23 - 33 - Then you will know that Jehovah will not destroy the righteous along with the wicked. Never has; never will.

To me, after he made those comments the Christian community as a whole is coming out against his words, and rightfully so. He has caused others to look at Christianty as bigoted and hateful durring times of despair and suffering. This is not Christian. I am in no way here to judge Pat Robertson, I will leave that for God.

To me, I do not consider him to be Christian at all if he spews such hate filled words.

Remember, not everyone who claims to be Christian, are Christian.

So, if Haitians didn't practice witchcraft - or if Haiti was not yet inhabited - you think that the plate tectonics that caused this earthquake would have done something different?

  • 1 decade ago

I think that he's a crazy old man that suffers from dementia. What's sad is that he's getting more press and comments for his crazy asss statement then Haiti's plight is.

And any Christian that knows the Bible, knows that it says that he and you are wrong...

Ezekiel 18:20 “The soul who sins is the one who will die. The son will not share the guilt of the father, nor will the father share the guilt of the son. The righteousness of the righteous man will be credited to him, and the wickedness of the wicked will be charged against him.”

Deuteronomy 24:16 “The fathers shall not be put to death for the sins of the children, neither shall the children be put to death for the sins of the fathers: every man shall be put to death for his own sin.”
