Pat Robertson's comments about the Haiti earthquake were "horrible"...?

... but you don't seem to be complaining about Danny Glover's comments that the earthquake was a response to our attitudes about global warming. Why?

Update:

The link above contains video...

Update 2:

I love how some of you say that Glover's comments were "taken out of context". Hmmmm..... Who else is guilty of that, I ask??

Also, Robertson is not "blaming the victims". He was blaming the culture.

    1) Glover is not as high profile as Robertson.

    2) Glover has never claimed to speak for God.

    3) Glover doesn't have thousands of probably good hearted but definitely deceived people hanging on his every word as gospel truth.

Because nobody cares what Danny Glover says. I'm sure if Anthony Michael-Hall came out and said the same things Pat Robertson said nobody would care either. Although someone must have cared enough to print it since you clearly know what Danny Glover said.

Pat Robertson is a well-known figure that people pay attention to when he makes comments concerning these matters.

SAVED BY GRACE states that people should nut be "running with the gossip" re Pat Robertson. Looking into what SOME Haitians' practise, does not mean that they, or anybody else is "following the devil". Only some Christians who live in fear of the devil, demons, hell and damnation etc. believe what Pat Robertson's comments suggest.

As for Danny Glover. What has his comments, with no religious connotation, got to do with Pat Robertson's comments that "God" caused the Earthquake to punish the Haitian people? Danny Glover is stating that humans are ruining the planet with pollution etc. and that there is a probability that some earthquakes could be caused by what is happening in the world in connection with Global Warming.

No where does he suggest that "God" has anything to do with it and in no way does Danny Glover blame the Haitian people for this earthquake.

There is no comparison whatsoever. I have concluded that Pat Robertson is mentally sick and the sad thing is he has followers who make him rich, believing in this mentally sick man's rhetoric.

Why should we be complaining about Danny Glover, when he is not blaming the Haitian people in "God"s name.

  • Because, while both comments were uneducated and moronic, only Robertson's comment said that the earthquake and the suffering it caused were the fault of the people who it affected. Glover is just being stupid, but Robertson is being hateful.

Wow, that was grossly taken out of context.

He was talking about natural disasters in general and saying that island nations are more vulnerable to the effects of climate change, which they are, and saying that the world needs to be ready to help. He was not blaming the earthquake on global warming.

I'm beginning to think that the religious right is incapable of telling the truth.

I didnt know about it until your link, thanks.

He didnt say that the earthquake was a response to "our attitudes about global warming", he said that the earthquake was a response TO global warming, and that we have done nothing in the past to stop global warming which caused this earthquake.

I'd like to see the science behind his statement that global warming caused this earthquake.

To make a remark that the earthquake is from global warming is one thing but to say it is from God's wrath because they are cursed is another. Robertson is a preacher and is judging people which God tells us not to do. As for Glover's remarks I worry about his intelligence.

I had read so much about this I finally did some background work to see if what Pat R really had any grounds in saying what he did...After a few moments of research I was surprised that what Pat had said was the Truth! Yes Haiti was and still does to this day practice Voodoo..In 2003 they made it the official religion of their island...Scary stuff there...They practice death spells and all kinds of demonic spells...Really if someone is going to start pointing fingers they need to at least check out the source instead of just running with the gossip...

PERHAPS I SHOULD REWORD THAT LAST PHRASE..."RUNNING WITH THE HEADLINES...OMGOSH

Source(s): Why do you not see that Pat is also praying and sending support to this island...that has never been mentioned here at Y/A... Maureen..Have you taken the time to look into the religion that is practed there in Haiti??? I have...It is not a secret...They are very open with it...I am telling what I have found in research!!!! Instead of convicting Gods people look at BOTH sides...and again I still stand by the fact it was satan that caused the destruction...

Why am I happy that I don't know what either one of them said ...A more interesting question to me is why people choose to live atop of very volitale shifting tectonic plates or in a place known as tornado or hurricane alley ....a wise man once said ..We have deserts ...WE JUST DON"T LIVE IN THEM ..!!

Source(s): it ois interesting that when the wrath of god is poured out upon others it's easier to say .. they deserved it ...would we be like job...??
