How many questions can we expect to see on Haiti adoption in the next few weeks?

I'm going to say at least 3 a day, possibly more on weekends.

Your guess?

As Andraya said...it will fade. Weekend traffic = more questions until next week when it fades some more.

Re: some of the other answers here:

What has affected me the most re: YA in here is the automatic assumption that understanding the compassion for another human being, feeling helpless and expressing good intentions--must equal ancircling PAP.

I will refer to my answer to this question as an example: http://ca.answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=Ak...

I was speaking to the gut reaction to such a tragedy being natural and human. I also clearly stated that adoption is not the answer. And yet...I have to concede that I never experienced seeing PAP's salivating over this for adoption purposes but I will take the word of some here that it happens. That sickens me.

The only site that I was referred to where this could become an issue...I have already stated this view publicly.

So...it should not be used as a platform to SUPPORT any adoptions any more than it should allowed to ATTACK them. And just because the laws on OBC are unjust in the US doesn't justify the enjoyment that someone else now has no access. Does that solve the inequalities that exist here...no.

It would be nice to see NO more questions about Haiti adoptions. They have other things to worry about.

ETA: BTW...I think we can all agree Pat Robertson is a bonafide d!ckhead.

I think your guess is good. Lol! There were a few who started mentioning it THAT NIGHT. It just goes to show you how ignorant people are about the adoption process, and how they think a child will be better with richer foreigners.

I see a few things happening. Infertiles who have the baby fever started salivating that night. They will use this as an excuse to try to get "fast track adoptions" going. It's already happening.

People who are clueless as to how adoption affects a child will say, "they will have a better life here- they live in squalor and eat dirt pies". The last thing a child needs after going through something like this is to be kidnapped from their country. It will take weeks, and months for people to find their family members.

The most ironic thing I have read is that PAPs of Haitian "orphans" are bitching here in the states because their "paperwork" has been lost. BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Really? I will NEVER have my "paperwork" because it is illegal for me to have it.

I wonder how the creepy paps who say it's "God's plan that their adoptive children are going to be placed with them" feel about this earthquake??? Maybe Pat Robertson can give them counsel.

  • you know what is sad... that people are going to use Haiti as a way to attack pro-adoption people.

and to those people i will say... until you have been there and walked a mile in there shoes shut the hell up and keep your people hating at bay.

Until you have experiences IA you have no right spewing your crap to others.

Haitians are in need ALWAYS... interantionall adoption is a big saviour to Hatian families and has been an incredibly wonderful process for families on both sides of the situation.

people will use haiti as a comparisson and you'll hear retarded things like "oh... an earthquake can hit hear... you gonna force adoption on my kids? statements like that are so immature. It is not because of an earthquake that people are concerned... it is due to lack of infrastructure, lack of government, lack of ressources. To compare a disaster in a third world country to a disaster in america just reafirms to the rest of us in the world the some americans are the most closed minded selfish people out there

Three to five a day for the next week then it will taper off to one or two a day for a week to ten days and after that it should be down to a few a week for at least a month.

It doesn't take long for people to move on to the next top story.

Several... It has already started. Quite sad really when you think of everything else they have to contend with and now people who want a piece of the tragedy.

    Ugh.

Honestly I don't see what is so wrong with people wanting to help out those poor children in Haiti. It's very easy to preach about not adopting people because it's wrong, it separates family, etc but at the end of the day those poor children are living in squalor and getting them away from it will save their lives!

Hmmm... I'd say 1 or 2 a day. People get a lot of information through the news and other sources. I wouldn't think they'd ask on Yahoo answers.
