India has not been able to even to make Bangladesh admit that illegal immigrants from Bangladesh is an issue.

When the media are least critical about Govt policies and activities, when opposition is weak and divided among themselves, when the people are too weary of their own problems and least alert to the govt functioning, when the rulers are too absorbed in retaining their power and encashing their positions rather than governing the country, when the leadership is weak and without any strategic / diplomatic visions, what else would happen?
When BJP leaders were crying hoarse about the dangers of a foreign national leading the biggest and oldest national party, it was shouted down by the sycophants of the Congress, the pseudo secular media and vested interests in the 'minority' camps.. etc.
The lady brought the CBI under her control to harass the opponents in UP, dropped cases against the Bofors accused, posted the family loyals to sensitive positions at the Rashtrapathi Bhavan and EC and did everything to strengthen herself and her authority, but least cared to work for the country through strong foreign policy, meaningful economic policy etc. Only the trader friendly, minority friendly agendas are in full swing. Not the least attention to national interests.
More than the govt we have to blame the apathy of the opposition also, as much as the media and the intelligentsia who should have pulled up the Govt then and there strongly and kept the public alert about the dangers of the govt laxity to defend our interests.
You find so many perverts in this site itself still supporting the Congress misrule. The neighbours are fully exploiting our weak position under Congress rule.Only God should save us from the corrupt politicians.

I believe in unconditional love but only from the Heavenly Father. Some people may believe in unconditional love but how many relationships have really been tested. I read an article about a couple who was married for years and their love was tested by the death of their son. I believe that when love goes through a difficult test or trial the true essence of that love is revealed. I don't people are becoming more and more selfish. We were all born selfish. I do believe people are becoming less tolerant of other people's mistakes. Also if you look at today's news, children are not learning empathy. Today's children are the future and it's scary to read a news article about a 10 year old boy who beat a 3 year old little girl with a baseball bat because she was in his way when he was playing a video game. It's harder to forgive a man who cheated but men (and women sorry males) have been cheating for years. Back in the day divorce was a lot harder. Hope this helps

Indian foreign policies were never good to say good foreign policy.
While China extends it claims on Arunachal Pradesh while India never raise it voice over Aksai Chin, which was a part of India now CoK. UPA govt never want a solution, as it would be a risk of power.
The National Remote Sensing Agency (NRSA) had confirmed that China is constructing a dam on its side of the Brahmputra River, but our govt just ignores it.Ignoring threats all the time.Only after consequences the govt wakes up to take no action but only to comment.
If they take the matter of illegal immigrant seriously, then what about vote banks. Many foreigners live in India illegally but still our system is weak to track them. The are able to buy properties in India. What is our govt doing?Sleeping
Our govt is soft on Pakistan.Once again vote bank. There are many who support Pakistan and our govt does not to take tuff stands on it.Eg. Egypt tour.
Nepal has always assured India getting involved into Nepals affairs.I dont know why should India involve in politics of Nepal.
Our PM is been touring world wide for Nuclear deals promising every country a lion share. If ever Nuclear exchange happens a great share is going to other countries and thats going to really pressurize people of this country.
UPA govt current foreign policy is going to make India once again a slavery country on economical basis.UPA govt has made India self reliance to other country dependent economy.

A mixture of Diplomacy, Aggressiveness and Softness is always considered to be a requisite to frame a foreign policy to achieve desirable result. Your question reflects only aggressive nature which no country has in its policies. Aggression needs to be applied only when there is a need and as a last resort.
In the above cases what you have enunciated, these issues can be solved through diplomacy and softness. Aggression is applied only when there is a issue relating our borders or encroachment of our land which is a matter of great concern for any country
About providing aid to Bangladesh, it is absolutely good move to team up and challenge the global terror menace.
When Bangladesh showing such a great amount of interest to crack down on terrorism we have to grab this opportunity with open hands which will serve great Indian interest both struggle in to fight terrorism and illegal immigrants.

Our foreign policy, though Sudan rightly suspects about it's existence, is nothing but like a first-aid programme. That ,definitely,is a decision taker and not the maker.
We have lost our interests in Sri Lanka & Nepal and thrown them in the lap of China.
Everybody know that foreign policy consists flexibility and rigidity. But their degrees varies depends on the situation.
MS has realised that there is no need to consult the opposition while framing the foreign policy. His ideas are always great. He does not find it appropriate to discuss the foreign policy here on Y/A.However ,his answer is not unexpected one.He is a hard core supporter of INC.But if this like support can make his party strong? We should not think about it.

A good answer from SD and i,m really sorry to say, a frustrated answer from MS,(If I have the authority to say so),but sometime it happens with every user and i still gave him thumbs up.
If we cannot discuss the pro and cons of our govt policies here on YA then there is no meaning to take part in it.
Secondly Mr. tharoor was right in it,s endorsment of the comment by Lord Bhiku Parekh "India Foreign policy was always a moralistic one" most of the time (leaving Indira Gandhi /Vajapayee era). But unfortunately he have to take his comments back.
In fact as per latest article in India today there are quotes from his books which is Anti-Nehru-Gandhi foreign policy.
And the answer to your question is "India is a soft state", and our foreign policy have substantial role in making us alwyas at the reciving end.

Bangladesh -
they're helping us in many way ! Sk. Hasina is known to be pro-India, & she's getting her 'reward' for her recent activities, & future promises . We must 'look after' such countries, otherwise why would they help us ? It's called diplomacy !
About Tipaimukh Dam project, I don't know much, but we can't help when ppl stood up against them - such dams caused adverse effect on environment & local ppl in many earlier cases, & there is a growing antipathy & fear against such dams around the world.
Illegal immigration - I think the bigger responsibility lies on Indian political parties & BSF, without whose 'cordial' help such immigrants can never enter or settle in India. Frankly speaking, you really can't totally depend Bangladesh on this issue. Though I think such issues should be raised in bilateral talks, but it was not raised possibly our policy-makers didn't want to end Sk. Hasina's visit in a 'happy note'
Nepal :
This 'land-encroachment' controversy started in '60s , & Maoists now have again raised this issue, becoz they think it was India who forced Prachanda to leave his post, considering India's warm relationship with current PM Madhav Kr. Nepal, & Maoist's tenacious relationship with Bhojpuri/Hindi-speaking 'Madhesis'. Again you can't ignore them, becoz the last election showed that they've considerable support among the general population. They paralyzed Nepalese parliament for 6 months, & they can topple the current govt & establish closer relationship with China, which is not desirable to India.
Pakistan :
They're under pressure in both inside & outside their country, so they did the best they could've done - counter-attack India using 'Baluchistan card' . About making the 'diplomatically isolate', you must see which countries have closest relationship with Pakistan : China - who will never desert Pakistan for their own reasons , Arab Nations - who will never desert such an 'important' Muslim country in South Asia, US & UK - who need Pakistan in Afghan-front & fight Muslim extremists . So, it might taste bitter, but we can't do much about it but to 'request' US, UK & Pakistan to take steps against ant-Indian activities.
India did a mistake by approaching to UN for solving 'Kashmir issue'. For Pakistan, it's hard to accept 'defeat' on Kashmir becoz they used it for a long time, & also they can accuse India for not implementing the 'UN resolution' in Indian part, & showing it as a reason for not doing the same in Pakistani part.
China :
First, we must properly demark our border in Ladakh, & provide enough security to the workers. A clear direction should be forwarded to every state govts, that if any such case arises again , state govt should immediately forward it to the central govt, but should not stop the work. I suggest a special committee should be established to tackle such situations.
You must know, that China don't accept the McMahon Line from the time the British drew it. Now, the issue has been made more complex when British FM David Miliband stated during his visit to China that 'China was neglected during drawing McMahon Line'. I don't think Miliband said it without nod from the British govt, & China will want to use this statement to 're-negotiate' borders with India. So India should be prepared for it !
About shaking hands with Chinese PM, you might see this incident in a different light - China, which is more powerful than India(can't deny that !), which consider Arunachal as a part of them, condemn the visit of Indian PM & Dalai Lama(an 'answer' from India to Chinese govt, considering Dalai is possibly the most-hated prsn by Chinese govt), fights in ADB's meeting to cancel loans for Arunachal - still retain relationship with India, & their Pm 'shakes hand' with our PM ! See, we have many dispute between us, but also have some common cause, for which the two countries have to act jointly, forgetting(maybe 'forcefully') all differences.

LOL, being on recieving end all the time, is not a foreign policy in first place, but it makes job of govt lot easier.
This is what indian govt is all about. Take short cuts to power, and take shorts cuts to peace, and dump people of india.

1, "... ... The threats are verbal, but they are enough for the workers to completely abandon the project... ... " >>"http://ibnlive.in.com/news/china-allegedly-stops-n...
"Oh my god! he is big brother!! & powerful too... let's forget the NREGA scheme..." That's what happening there.. [The basic instinct]
2. May be I forgot the meaning of "aid" LOL! you want to interpret it in kinda give n take business? In this sense your question can be justified..
3. what is the consequence between Pakistani terrorists behind 26/11 and Belushis separatists, I really couldn't make any sense.. LOL!
4. Yup! somehow there was a great role of India and some other leading countries of the word in establishing democracy in Nepal. So what? Is really India merit to encroach Nepal's land? Doesn't it sounds like a tale of some hero, where a hero saves a girl from rapist, and he considers that now he deserves to rape the girl... hahahaha sounds funny, but it's really not my dear!
