Christians, what do you think of this:?

Just got this in my email from a "true Christian" on Yahoo Answers:

"Subject: You never were a Christian

Message: You never were a Christian, you played at it for a while, got bored, or got offended and moved on... True ex-christians are very rare and they don't make asses of themselves on forums."

So, do you all agree that a total stranger can discern how someone once believed based on how they believe now? Do you agree that it is "Christian" to call someone an "***"?

Update:

Kyle, if I were I "tattletale", I would have named the individual. As it is, I am just amused that this is how some Christians choose to represent their faith.

He is an idiot and by his own standards not a true Christian.

A true Christian wouldn't claim to know your mind or to be able to judge you like that.

Ignore him for a moron and move on.

A lot of kids are brought up in their parent's faith and never have a real relationship with God. I think this is what this person is talking about. In my family we were sent to Sunday school. I loved going but my brothers would take the offering money my folks gave them and buy cigarettes at a corner grocery down the street. It was many years ago before there were laws against minors buying tobacoo.

I loved going although since my folks never attended the teachers were kind of indifferent to me as a student. I don't know why I felt drawn to God but I always was drawn even though there was no prayers said at home.

We were all brought up with very little religious influence as my dad was atheistic .

I am telling you that I met God as a child and my brothers did not. It happens.

I think you can have supernatural knowledge about people without meeting them .

I do not think it is appropriate to call anyone an ***.

I cannot judge your behavior here but many atheists are extremely rude and patronizing. Many Christians are the same way.

I am sorry to hear you were offended and possibly misunderstood.

Wow. Looks like you got a fraud, oops, I mean freud on your hands there, huh? Looks like you got a sensitive one that can only respond with "you're a liar!" when faced with a response they can't handle. True exchristians are rare? I actually know a few, maybe I'm an outlier? Well, I haven't read whatever you said to trigger this email, but I try not to decipher someones religion on an internet forum. Especially when you miss out on things like intonation, nonverbal communication, etc. Its not christian to call someone an a***, but I've done it on occasion. But it is ironic for someone to say all that and swear at the same time!

I think that that person who sent you that was rude, and it wasn't right for them to say that.

There may have been a reason why you turned against God, I do not know you so I can't say why you decided to turn away from God.

I don't think that "christian" was very Christ-like.

God will still accept you if you decide to return to Him, He loves you very much. He sent Jesus to die for you on Calvary. Jhn 3:16 "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."

I am a Christian but I would never cuss at you or make fun of you or belittle you. I might try to witness to you, but I would do it with a caring and loving spirit like we are supposed to witness.

First off, there's no such thing as a TRUE Christian. Either you're a Christian or you're not. If you're an EX Christian, you never were one in the beginning.

Seems to me, from what that person must have read in your 'question', that person was expressing his opinion. If you can't take a little bit of flack on here, how in the world do you handle REAL LIFE?

How do you know that person is a Christian?

    Why are you so surprised?

Who told you Christians are perfect? We fail at behaving just like everyone else does at times...

I have no idea how you came to be an ex Christian..Far as I'm concerned it's none of my business..You've obviously heard the gospel and have chosen to reject it...Whether or not you come back is really between only you and God...

I think he still has a lot of work cut out for him before he can claim his patent for a mind-reader. It's simply flabbergasting how many people think they have the power to read your mind across the internet.

It's possible you weren't a true Christian. It's possible that I'm not a true Christian. Were you raised that way and followed along with your parents, or did you step out to find your faith yourself, and then lost it somewhere along the line?

It isn't Christian to judge someone else.

I can say the message is true. You were never a Christian. Christians don't walk away from God. I would rather die. His observations seem correct in my opinion. But I would say "true ex-Christians" don't exist at all.

His last sentence was his opinion and not a very high opinion I must say.

  • isn't that a judgement on someone? isn't that a no no?

also they used the "no true scotsman" fallacy on you i am jealous, can't wait til some jew says i was no true jew, it's probably rare that that happens but if it does i will be as giddy as a schoolgirl

and it would be a notch on my "logical fallacies theists have used against me" belt
