The idea is that AB blood has both A and B antigens on the blood cells, hence has antibodies against neither, so it can receive O, A or B blood as well as AB, whilst O has no antigens on the blood cells, so nothing for a receiver to react to. Hence universal receiver and donor.

But as you've twigged, there's nothing to stop anti-A and anti-B antibodies in O blood being transferred into an AB type.

So for this reason, blood transfusions don't use whole blood. Blood is separated into red blood cells (which have the antigens on), platelets and plasma (which has the antibodies in).

I think, if you have to pick, using whole O blood to donate with is better because of the concentrations involved, but if a large plasma donation is needed (eg for a burns victim) and their type is unknown, AB plasma will be used as the universal donor.

Based at the descriptions and my sincere option [traditionally biased] I have compatibility AB and O with not one of the negatives although my trust is also perceived for vanity Sun - Aquarius Moon - Aries Again bias from choice :/.... humans decide on what they decide on and it will not be the reality additionally simplest four forms...
