Erectile Dysfunction in Type 2 diabetic?

Medications aren't working. My husband is looking into other treatments, like a pump and rings and/or maybe even a prosthesis.

We're both wondering though (hopefully we'll hear from someone who has used these treatments personally) since the erection is maintained artificially, will he still be able to orgasm? or is this just one of those things for guys who think this is the only way to please their woman?

Update:

MM, MP, &MM again,

We've both talked with his doctor, who is also a T2 diabetic... I feel like he's not taking what we have to say seriously.

He only shrugs and tells my husband to eat better. The doctor is also pushing vegetarianism due to his religion.

My biggest concern here is my husband... HE thinks he's not pleasing me enough... we can have all kinds of sex... just not intercourse. I'm fine with that... I don't want him to think I think less of him at all... you know what I mean?

    Blessed Be, dear lady.

Using a pump will NOT prevent your husband from climaxing/orgasming, but there'll be no evidence of ejaculate until he removes the elastane ring.

Are you ... either of you ... aware that you're only meant to wear the ring for 30 minutes at a time? (You're only meant to use it once a day, too.) This is because it stops the blood flow to the penis. This, of course, means that there's a lack of oxygen to the tissues of the penis, and if he tries to keep it on for much longer, he could end up doing damage to those tissues. (You WILL notice the difference in colour [color] the longer the elastane ring is kept in place.)

I was offered a prosthesis several years ago, but decided against it as I have a devil of a job with blood glucose control. I'm sure you're already aware that there's added risk of infection in diabetes sufferers ... particularly those that can't keep blood glucose levels near to 'normal'.

Are you and your husband aware that there are 3 main tablets for the treatment of erectile dysfunction? These are Viagra (Sildenafil), Cialis (Tadalafil), and Levitra (Vardenafil hydrocholoride). Sometimes, when one of these medications don't work ... or doesn't work so well ... another will work better. There's also a pellet that can be pushed into the urethra called Alprostadil, or injections of a drug called Caverject, that can be given into the cavernosa (at the side of the penis).

Before you give up, have you actually spoken to your husband's doctor and asked him/her to review your husband's medication? I'm not purposely trying to be pushy, but various medications can compound the 'problem' that your husband is presently experiencing, making matters worse than they need to be.

I wish you both the very best of luck.

    MM, MP & MM again.

well, my hubby's problem isn't diabetes, but he has lost the attitude he had when we were younger. It has been about 4 years since we had intimate relations. Maybe I am not interested that much any more either.

There is a lot more to living together than just the bed part!

No! I don't know the answer to your question, but do sympathize with your problem and just want to let you know that you are not alone in this.
