3d/4d ultrasounds, what is your opinion?

Are these worth the money? I never did one with DD but I am thinking I want to do one this time around. Are they overrated or is it something I will enjoy forever? Thanks!

Ask your OB if they can do them- mine did without my even asking! For the entire last half hour of my hour-long 19 week ultrasound! It was awesome, and they printed 79 pictures for us, and gave us the CD with all the images on it too (not video, stills).

Also, see if you have a local college in the area that could do it. There is a Tech college about 2 blocks from my house that has an ultrasound tech program that one of my friends happened to be in her final semester of, and they do FREE ultrasounds! They also had JUST gotten a 3D/4D machine like 2 weeks before my appt. but unfortunately broke it the week before! And the transducer alone we were told is $40,000 so it would be a while before they would fix it! Anyways, that gives you some idea why they are so pricey!

Anyways, you may have other options than to go to one of the boutique places. Check those two things out. Good luck!

Ultrasounds are thoroughly secure. they do no longer use radiation like an x-ray, they're sound waves to %. up tissue density. I actual have in no way heard of three-D/4d united statesbeing to any extent further risky than a known 2d u/s. I actual have had an united statesevery 2-3 weeks my total being pregnant (i'm now 33 weeks.) I actual have had them accomplished via OB (no longer an united statestech) and my perinatologist, so i'm specific if it become risky they does not have accomplished that many. My OB has a three-D/4d device and that i think of it is actual staggering. I actual have countless photos of my toddlers which you would be able to tell their facial good points and notice maximum of information suited all the way down to their eyelashes.

Well, some people are lucky and get very clear images and they would be worth keeping forever! However if youre like me, my baby was always facing the wrong way or had its hands obscurring its face so I never got a decent head/face shot at all. Luckily here in New Zealand the 3d/4d scans are the same cost as regular 2d ones. Its definately cool to see the 3d version but not always good enough to want to keep and frame. :)

I had a 3D one done and was actually disappointed but it wasn't the quality of the ultrasound - but that my baby's face was covered by the placenta. She had a very short cord which is probably why that was. If I would have been able to get a clear shot of her face I would have been way happier with it. I have seen others that turned out great! I think it is a cool keepsake to show your baby when they get older :)

I would definitely say so. I haven't had one done yet because I'm going to wait until 32 weeks, but my sister had one done and from what she told me it was definitely worth all the money! Especially if you invite your family along as well -- because it's a great experience for everyone.

yes! you get to see what your little angel will look like, almost. Mine did this weird thing with his hand covering his nose and mouth with his arm, which is how i always position myself when i'm being lazy.
