Is Maui really as nice as they say it is?
I was thinking of taking a trip and it sounds so beautiful. Anyone been there and can suggest places to go and stay?

Yeah, the valley isle is very beautiful. I've never personally been there.. which is funny cuz I live on the Big Island and I can see it clearly on some days.
For me paradise on that island would be Honolua Bay.. it's one of the best point-break surfspots in the world. (IMO)
A fun thing you might wanna try do is go with a tour that takes you to the top of Haleakala with bikes and then you get to bike the whole way down the mountain.

Each island is beautiful in its own way. Maui is the ultimate tropical resort island. One of the things I like best about Maui is the beautiful views that you have along the southern & south western coasts of Molokai, Lanai, & Kahoolawe. If you are coming during whale season (December through March) a whale watching cruise would be at the top of my list. Other things to consider: sunrise on Haleakala (you need to get up early - very early - and dress warmly - very warmly), the drive to Hana (budget a full day for this one), and some shopping/dining/people watching time in Lahaina. Stay either in the Kaanapali or Wailea areas. Wailea is a bit more upscale, Kaanapali is closer to Lahaina, which gives you more options for activities. I hear the aquarium in Maalea is nice, but I have never been.

Yes, it's very nice. In my opinion it's nicer than Kauai, which is nicknamed The Garden Isle. THAT nickname should be given to Maui.
When my family and I went, we stayed on the outskirts of Lahaina, which is the tourist area. It's pretty at night and the beach is right there.
The road to Hana is an adventure. It also provides some amazing scenery.

It is gorgeous and if you visit I highly recommend seeing the Ohe'o Gulch Seven Sacred Pools.
