Painful Calves when Running.?
For the last 2 months, each time I jog, I will experience sharp pain in both of calves, the entire calves will also be tighten up.
I am in my 40's, my last 10km run was 5 yrs back, clocking 55min. Since than, I do not work out as much due to many overseas posting. But recently, as my life is more stable, I am getting back on my exercise routine.
I have been cycling for the last 6 months before turning back to running, as I wish to take part in 10 km run again. But I could not complete even 1.5km at any time due to the sharp pain.
I am a firm believer of stretching, and I even apply heavy 'deep heat' and use a leg warmer (making me look like a sissy) when I exercise.
I have put on a bit of weight (84 kg now) since my last 10 km run. But I am not at my heaviest weight. (89kg at 22 yrs old, but 2.4km below 10 minute, and 10km below 45 min).
Any expert out there have any idea?
Thanks.
I will be very sad and sorry if Carla got the 'best answer'. Please read my text. Don't tell me anything more about stretching.
I do pilate, I did 20km run before, without stretching, do u ever think I can do it?

Try massaging, both before and after the exercise. perhaps changes in weight may have cause the pain.

I have football train four/five tuition days each and every week so there's a LOT of jogging for that. You have to ensure that you just ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS stretch your legs, fingers, and almost the whole lot earlier than AND after your exercise. I get relatively sore besides despite doing that even though so a different factor that you just would desire to take a look at is soaking in sizzling water. It will relieve anxiety and loosen up your muscle mass. Hope this helped !
