Riddle..........whose medal was it?

Two young men, George and Michel were quarrelling over the possession of a Medal, each maintaining that the medal belonged to his grandfather. (Grandfathers of both the persons not alive)

The Medal was awarded for display of exceptional bravery in war.

George had old black & white photographs of a young man in army uniform as a proof that that was his grandfather and he was in army

Michel produced an old and wrinkled paper, a certificate dated 1918 saying the the medal was awarded for exceptional bravery in World War I.

The question is : Who do you think will get the possession of the Medal? AND WHY?

    The one with the photographs.

The certificate was dated in 1918 for WWI. They didn't know there was going to be world war 2 until 1939. That was after the certificate was dated.

According to your riddle "the medal was awarded for display of exceptional bravery in WAR", and the certificate that Michel has specifically says "exceptional bravery in World War One". Therefore my guess would be that George will get the possession of the Medal, since the medal that they are fighting over would be a completely different to the one stated in Michel's certificate.

The one with the certificate, photos don't prove anything except that he was there.

    WW I went from 28 June 1914 to 11 November, 1918.

i would go with George just because Michael sounds like the obvious answer, and usually in riddles they want you to think outside the box
