When is a good age to take a toddler to a pro-baseball game?

My daughter will be a year old in April and I am looking at getting tickets to a game in June or July (when the weather in Chicago is tolerable). Has any parents had good experiences with taking their toddler to a ballgame? Thanks so much :-)

The best age, to begin to take a child to games, is when they show an interest and really want to go.

One year olds just will not sit still long enough and do not have the attention span to understand what's going on. All a 1-year old wants to do is play, eat and sleep.

Either get someone to watch her or don't buy the tickets for now.

  • It's really nice that you want to spend time with your daughter!

But trust me, she will NOT be interested in a baseball game. You could maybe take her when she is 10 or 12, if you've been watching baseball with her from now until that time, and she likes baseball and is interested in it.

Please, do not take a 1-year-old to a baseball game! It will be torture, for you, all the people sitting around you, and especially her!

I can't imagine a toddler having the patience and understanding to sit through any pro sports game.

My son went to his first NFL game last year. He's ten. I don't think he'd have enjoyed it any younger.

    lol good luck.

My 1 year old can't go to the store without balking. If you want to go, plan to take someone who is willing to miss the entire game who enjoys walking around with a toddler a lot!
