Newborn spitting out food?
My daughter is 4 weeks, and when she feeds from the bottle (I give her expressed breast milk), she spits a lot of it out. It's not "spitting up" because it never really goes down her. She'll make a gurgly kind of sound and then spit it out. She's hungry but it seems like more is coming out than going in. She'll also start to get fussy because she's not getting her food fast enough. Any suggestions on what this might be? I've tried different nipples with her and it doesn't mke a difference. Thanks!

If she's spitting the food out, than I don't think it's a matter of her getting mad because she isn't getting the milk fast enough...I think she's getting mad because the flow of milk is too fast & she is unable to swallow it. That is why she has to spit it out & why she's making gurgly sounds. Make sure you're using a nipple that is slow flo for newborns. I breast feed, but when my baby gets a bottle, I use Avent bottles with the #1 silicone nipple, it's slow flow/for newborns. And when you hold her, make sure she's not laying flat, her upper body should be tilted upwards a little bit.

I would say the nipple flow is too fast for her. I have a 7 month old who still needs slow-flow nipples. We've tried multiple (and I mean MULTIPLE!) types of bottles, and on every type, she still needs slow-flow. I just tried her on a sippy cup, and because the juice was coming out too fast, she was gurgling and it was just pouring out from her mouth. I'd make sure the nipples you're using are slow, and if not, you might want to try another brand of bottle. I love the Playtex Drop-Ins, silicone nipples. They make cleaning so easy, and my daughter did well because they are a fatter nipple and more like your breasts. The Dr. Brown's and Medela nipples are so small at the base, she would collapse the nipple. Just my 2 cents.

I agree...the nipple flow is to fast for her to swallow. Get some slow flow nipples and she will be able to keep up better.
If that doesn't work she may not be getting how to suck from a bottle nipple,)bottle nipples are so much bigger than mommy nipples) just keep trying and try different nipples. You may have to switch to a different bottle to find the nipple she will take. My kids both did well with playtex bottles. I chose that bottle because the base is alot bigger...more like a boob.

The nipple flow is likely way too fast for her
Or she just really doesn't want to take a bottle
Which nipples have you tried?

try a slower flow or if you breastfeed, have someone else give her a bottle. my son is 3 months and started refusing bottles from me. there's no need to stress him out, so bf as much as possible.
