Plumbing from meter to PEX?

I am going to re-plumb my house with PEX; The current meter is very old and hopefully water company is going to install a new one. What type of fixture will go from the meter to the next step?

i.e. I'm assuming the PEX wont attach directly to the meter and I need to know what comes from the meter to a shutoff (ball valve) to copper? then to PEX or??

Actually you can run PEX straight from the meter through out your whole house. They mak an adapter that will attach straight to the meter. Then you just wrap the crimp ring you use in plastic. I have done it on many water services.

You would use just a copper to pex adapter. The copper gets soldered to the meter tail, then you attach the PEX to it.
