Preemies and Brain Bleeds?

My daughter gave birth on January 16th at 23 weeks gestation to premie twin girls. They are both still in the NICU and will probably be there until May or later. Both of them have been diagnosed with Grade 3 brain bleeds. I know that this can lead to Cerebral Palsy and other complications, but I am wondering if anyone out there has ever had a premature baby that had a Grade 3 bleed but had NO problems from it. I am just wondering and hoping for a miracle.

My son was 16 weeks early and suffered a grade 4 bleed. Grade 4 is the most severe.

A follow up scan showed he had suffered a lot of damage to the area which controls movement.

I was told that if he were to survive he would most likely have no quality of life.

He is 4 now and just your average cheeky little monster.

He was a little slow to hit his milestones but that was hardly surprising given the hard start to life.

He never developed any signs of the damage his brain suffered.

When a child is born so early the brain is still developing. It is quite possible that the brain can 'rewire' itself to compensate for any damage.
