How can I help my dog adjust to being alone more?
When I first got her a little over a year ago, I was able to spend a lot of time with her because I had a very flexible work schedule. Unfortunately, my job was eliminated and I have to go to work elsewhere and won't be home as much. I feel badly as she is not used to being left much. What kind of toys could I get that might entertain her while I am gone. What else can I do to make it easier for her? TIA

Kong's are great, leave some type of clothing with your sent on it in her crate. summer is coming so you can freeze a sock or a rope for a cool treat.
good luck *;*

I had the same issue with my dog.
Kongs are great, you can fill them with treats or peanut butter to keep her working. Look for toys that make her think, there are huge selections and they really do keep your dog busy. Most pet stores will carry or they can be cheaper online (and they can be a tad pricey 20$ + but they help) switch them up occasionally because a dog like any animal will get bored without variety.
Also find our if there is a friend or dog walker near you that is willing to dog sit a few times a week. I have a friend over now and then just to hang out with Mars (it helps keep him from getting himslef into trouble.) even if its just to sit and read a book with the dog around.
Best of luck!

Kongs with treats inside can entertain dogs for a while. Other dog toys with treats inside and puzzles for them can entertain for a long time. The catalog PetEdge or Petsmart or other pet stores near you might have toys like that. Good Luck! :)

Hi!
Since canines are highly social creatures, being alone can be quite stressful for them. Fortunately, you can teach your pup to enjoy his alone time, or at least tolerate it. If he never grasps how to do this, you may wind up with a dog who acts out through excessive barking, digging, and chewing - or develops a very serious case of separation anxiety.

Hope this helps.
Thank you!
