overheating issue..update....?

Recap.....2000 firebird 5 spd 3.8

New radiator, new water pump, new thermostat, new coolant temp. Sensor, cap, flushed twice, heater core not plugged.

Issue.......

Its still "overheats", resoivour overflows but temp. Guage stays at 210. Fans turn on when a/c, and turn the heater on, but don't come on by itself because it don't think its hot. I did ran it with no thermostat and still did it. Its been 2 wks with this issue, so to say its a head gasket its not even considered because of the fact that 1. There is no condensation on the oil cap, 2. No smoke 3. Even though I have a very minor leak (about 1/2 qt/2 wks, there's no burt oil lose.

People with expertise especially gm's, PLEASE HELP!!!!!!

You practically change and touch everything that is concern in overheating, but your car still overheats. I suggest to change your fan blade to a more fan blades, put shroud in your radiator. In this way it can add more cooling in your system. Check also your a/c compressor for proper amount of freon gas coz the more freon gas its is, high pressure can build up in your system, sometimes causing overheating. Hope this might help!

There are "2 Fans" behind the Radiator [A/C Fan that comes on when the A/C is turned on & Radiator Fan that Cycles as the engine heats & Cools] they both need to work. As for the Heater you may just have a Bad HVA/C Fan Motor. Sounds like you may have a "High Pressure Hose Leak" {Pressure Test the Cooling System at 7 PSI for 10 Minutes} and check for leaks. None of the Listed are positive signs the Head Gasket is not Bad, with the engine cold Remove the Radiator Cap, run the engine for 2 to 3 minutes, "Do you smell Exhaust in the Radiator Coolant? Yes, Head Gasket.

(NOTE; At 210 & above Radiator & A/C fans Should run, weather the A/C is on or not).

FYI a head gasket can go bad and doesn't necessarily mean it will get coolant in the oil. It can go bad anywhere, including straight into the exhaust, into the cylinders, or just outside of the engine.

I think I suggested before to get a compression test and pressure test on the cooling system. One or both of these with tell you if there is a major problem. It could also be as simple as an air pocket in the system.

The computer turns the fans on. The computer itself almost never fails. 99% of the time when people think it's the computer, it's something else. The #1 thing is the sensors, actuators, relays etc. The #2 thing is wiring.

Maybe you are wrong about the cause. Maybe the computer is signaling the fans to turn on, but they are not because of a bad relay etc. I don't have my F4 shop manuals in front of me, but the factory shop manual makes life a LOT easier. You can try Haynes/Chiltons, but my experience is they are weaksauce. The factory shop manual is comprehensive. I highly recommend it.

Note that the Camaro/Firebird are "F-body" cars, and the 2000 is in the 4th Generation - thus "F4".

this most certainly could be a cracked head or block or worn gasket, if you have a crack or leak from cylinder it can leak compression into water jacket, exceeding the normal cooling system pressure and push the coolant into the resivour. there will only be smoke or steam in exhaust if coolant is leaking into cumbustion. the combustion chamber pressures are much higher than cooling system pressure so YES it can leak 1 way. these GM v-6s are known for this problem. especially cracks in the block cumbustion/coolant

GM 3.8 engines are famous for having bad intake manifold gaskets. They can leak fluid into the combustion chamber in small amounts that you may not see. This is easy to check (well, easier than the head gaskets) and your going to be going in anyway; you have changed everything else.
