Where can I find songs for children 6-12 years?

I would like to find something more than the Disney songs or the usual like I Believe I could Fly or We Are The World from Michael Jackson. Any suggestion please.

I hate children's music with a passion so I started my daughter listening to normal music that's kid friendly very young. I define "kid friendly" as no swear words or lyrics that obviously refer to sex and drug. I'm ok with references that are over her head. I was 25 when I finally figured out what "turning Japanese" meant. So far my 3 year old daughter's favorite bands/CDs are:

    The Beatles

    The Mighty Mighty Bosstones

    The Ramones

    They Might Be Giants

    Bare Naked Ladies

    The Clash

soundtrack from So I Married an Axe Murderer

Have you been to your local library? Many libraries have music available to check out, including children's songs, folk songs, and Broadway show tunes (like "Annie"). The librarian may be able to suggest other music. Your children's music teacher at school may also have suggestions. You can also go to Amazon.com and type in "children's music" and it'll pull up a long list of music aimed at kids. You can read the comments of other parents and probably even list to song samples. There are also many parenting forums online where you can ask other parents for suggestions.

Well, being a little one in the '90s (born in '86), I LOVED Ace of Base!!! Most of my friends did, too. I also loved the Thriller album...TLC was always a popular one, too. The Now and Then soundtrack was a great one, too. The song "Hitchin' a Ride" by Vanity Fare was my fave on that album, it had a lot of early '70s music on it, we loved it!
