Something like a Norfolk Pine but about 4 feet tall?

I saw the prettiest little tree the other day in a hospital atrium, it looked like a Norfolk Pine but was about 4 feet tall. I don't know if they actually grown that big and if they do what do you need to do to get them that big and how long does it take (guestimate)?

Any ideas what this pretty tree is?

Also, what conditions would a Norfolk pine need to be left outside year round? Or is there another similar tree that fairs well in cold weather year round? I'm in Zone three in Calgary and a lot of plants here fail in the Chinooks with winter temps down to -25oC one week and up to +10oC the next in a chinook.

Norfolk Island Pines grow in excess of 30-50 feet tall if left long enough. Here, they grow outside with no problems, They cannot take extended freezing weather, nor can they take deep freezing. They are a tropical plant. Norfolk Island Pines would have to be kept indoors in your area to survive.

I believe Norfolk Island Pines can reach that height, so that's probably what you saw. They are beautiful trees, but I've never been able to keep one alive. They are rather finicky. They like a lot of moisture on their needles, but not wet feet. I received one as a gift a few years ago & kept it in a controlled environment with lots of spritzing w/ a water bottle and occasional deep waterings. I put a lot of work into that little tree and it still died. Hopefully, you'll have better luck.
