Does changing your child's name effect child support?
I am getting married this April and we want to change my son's last name to match my new married name. If we change my son's name will I still receive child support for him?
For one, don't assume you know stuff about my situation when the father hasn't even bothered contacting me or my son since he was in his first trimester. The father wants nothing to do with the child.
Also... the child does not have his fathers last name, he has mine.
SO PLEASE JUST ANSWER THE EFFING QUESTION. I didn't ask to be accused of stuff that has nothing to do with me did I?

No, but I'll just teach the father how to sue to stop it, and likely go for custody as this is the sign of a gatekeeper mother trying to alienate the child from the father while claiming he's uninvolved.

Okay, you can't just change your sons name unless your new husband legally adopts him. If that happens then yes the child support will stop because your new husband would be the legal guardian.
Name changes are more complicated than it sounds, especially for a male child. The fact is that he has his father's DNA and his father's last name, and his father pays child support. Why shouldn't he be allowed to carry his dad's name?

The only thing that would change child support would be if your new husband adopted your son. A name change alone should not affect that.
