I need some theme ideas for my son's 1st birthday party...?

Your little boy is turning one. Oh What Fun! What better way to celebrate this milestone than with a first birthday party. Anyhow, I do help my mom before I went to college, she's actually a wedding planner but we do birthday's too.

Does your birthday boy love pirates? Well, even though he's turning one you know what's best and memorable for his 1st birthday.Even if he never sails forth on an treasure-hunting adventure, he can have a taste of the pirate's life with a pirate birthday party! Read this pirate party tips for swash-buckling action and high seas adventure at your pirate party!

Pirate Party Decorations ^.^

**Use decorations that coordinate with your pirate birthday party theme.

__Black and red should be your main color choices, with touches of white and yellow (or gold).

__Use red tablecloths, sprinkled with black and white metallic confetti.

__You could also scatter chocolate gold coins.

__Use black, red, and white balloons tied with yellow or gold curly ribbon.

__Use black napkins tied with yellow or gold curly ribbon.

**In one corner, set up a treasure chest filled with costume jewelry.

__Make sure some of the jewelry falls to the floor.

__(If you do not have that much jewelry, you can also fill it halfway with styrofoam or other filler, then put what jewelry you have on top of that.)

__Set a plastic skull next to the treasure chest, and some plastic bones.

**Purchase or make mini treasure chests for your table centerpieces. Fill with chocolate gold coins for your guests to eat.

__Post pictures of pirate ships, pirate flags, and actual pirates on the walls. You could even put up a Pirates of the Caribbean move poster or two.

**If you want to go all out, turn your party area into a pirate ship, or a pirate's treasure cave!

__Use butcher paper to create a sky and ocean scene on two walls.

__Turn the other two walls into the walls of the ship.

__Put buckets, rope, plastic swords, and other objects that might be on a pirate ship around the room.

__For a pirate cave, put up black paper and dim the lights.

__Put safe candles or party lanterns around for light.

Pirate Party Menu ~*.*~

1.Serve finger food, such as chips, popcorn, and pretzels, in cardboard treasure chests.

2.Serve "Pirate Sea-Dogs."

__Roll out biscuit dough.

__Sprinkle liberally with cheddar cheese.

__Place a hot dog in the center and roll up.

__Bake until the biscuits are brown and the cheese is melted.

__Cut into slices and spear with a toothpick. (Be sure to make enough for your guests. These will go fast!)

__If you want to be really creative, make a tiny pirate flag for each one.

**Serve "Walk-the-Plank Celery."

___Slather celery sticks with peanut butter, then put raisins on top.

___Have the kids use their imaginations that the raisins are walking the plank!

***Serve "Pirate Ship Floats." Root beer floats can easily be imagined to be pirate ships sailing on the high seas.

***Call biscuits "Hard Tack." Slice in half, then allow the kids to top with butter, sliced strawberries, whipped cream, etc.

_________Frost the top of the first cake.

_________Lay the second on top with the front slightly open.

_________Hold it open with chocolate gold coins and costume jewelry.

_________Frost the sides and top of the second cake with chocolate frosting to look like a treasure chest.

_________Use yellow or black frosting for the accents, including the clasp and the hinge on the back.

Pirate Party Activities ^_^

**Set up a treasure chest with pirate dress up items in them, like capes, boots, hats, and plastic swords.

___Allow the children to dress up, then play pirates!

___If there is any sword-fighting, have an adult monitor!

**You and your adult helpers dress up like pirates! Have one of your adult helpers tell a pirate tale or read a pirate book.

**Have a "Pirate Treasure Hunt."

___Hide the children's goody bags, two in each spot.

___Make treasure maps to each location.

___Have the children pair up, then find their goody bags!

**For the goody bags, fill mini treasure chests or yellow bags with chocolate gold coins, pirate eye-patches, pirate stickers, and other pirate items.

We just did a pink and orange polka-dot themed party for our daughter's first birthday. I found REALLY cute decorations, and used lots of pink and orange balloons, and gerbera daisies in the same colors. She wasn't really "into" anything in particular, and there were going to be mostly adults at the party (grandparents, aunts, uncles, etc.), so it seemed kind of silly to have a bunch of stuff that kids would really enjoy at a party where there were mostly adults... Our daughter LOVED the streamers and balloons, and having all of her relatives there, and I'm sure she didn't even notice that there were no themed characters. I plan on using some of the cool birthday party ideas for when she is old enough to have friends!

for a first birthday? Pirates and Rockstar? I've never seen one but sounds cute :) I used Sesame Street mostly because it had a bunch of colors so I did a sesame street cake.. and party hats and napkins.. and all different colored ballons/table cloths/cups/paper plates

his fav character and save that stuff for later when u can go all out & him and his freinds the same age will enjoy it as well. he will get excited at this point to see his fav character on the cake or even a plate.. what games are they really going to be able to play and will u be able to keep them engaged or end up getting upset cuz they dont find it interesting at all.
