Animal testing for medical research?

I am doing a research paper on animal testing for medical purposes and I just want to know how you feel about this subject. Is it worth putting animals through procedures if it saves your son, your mother, your husband/wife? Or is it not worth it no matter what it saves because we are putting innocent animals through pain and suffering? Please be respectful of every-ones opinion and just let me know what you think.

It is painful to think about it, but at the same time it is for the greater good. Sacrifice a few animals to save thousands of lives. I think that is the best course of action

Hi wow that is a hard one as i love all animals. But as a nurse i understand that it is very important to use animals to test things before using it on humans. If it wasn't for the animals and the testing we would not be where we are now with all the new medicines and techniques to help us humans. Some day they will find a cure for cancer and they will probably have to use some animals to accomplish that. So i guess what i am trying to say is yes i do think it is important to use animals for research. Do i like it no.

I think it is ok. I am a vegetarian and do not support killing animals for food, clothing, or hurting them for cosmetics testing, but for certain things I think it is a necessary evil. As much as I love animals they are still not as valuable as humans. I think as long as the tests are sent to a review board, someone is overseeing them so the smallest number of animals possible are used, and they suffer as little as possible, and the tests are done on humans as much as possible (since knowing how medicines act on human bodies is the final goal after all), it is permissible to use animals to test for medical purposes.
