In your opinion, what is the most over-rated movie?

Nightmare Before Christmas, Fight Club, Donnie Darko.

I would say Twilight but I think the producers purposefully went low budget and carelessly filmed it because they knew preteen girls would watch it no matter how poorly made it was.

Titanic is definitely one of the most overrated movies of all time. Great effects when the ship sinks etc. but the story was pathetically bland, uninteresting and quite unbelievable [not the history part, the fiction part].

A few other movies tha IMO is highly overrated are Citizen Kane, Sound of Music, Slumdog Millionaire, Ben-Hur, Shakespeare in Love, Forrest Gump. etc. etc. There are still quite a few ;P I think of a lot of the old movies are overrated, not that I don't like old movies, I do like and watch them. But when I read a list like TSPDT's 1000 greatest films and about 75% of the movies listed are 30 years and older, I get annoyed. It is as if they are trying to imply that very few good movies are made today and we are past the "golden age" of movies, BS IMO! Special effects are better, filming techniques are better, the acting is way better, far more natural and realistic. Anyway... :)

As to your personal choice, well I enjoyed Dark Knight and have seen it a couple of times and although I think it is good, I don't think it was quite as wow as everyone made out.

I don't know about "all time," but the first to come to mind is Slumdog Millionaire(2008). Don't get me wrong, I actually love this movie, but people went CRAZY over it and it beating out Milk(2008) for Best Picture at the Academy Awards is just ridiculous.

Secondly, I know no one wants to hear it, but I have to say Avatar(2009). It's such a beautiful movie to look at. In my opinion, a movie should offer more than just being "pretty." The acting and plot were both lacking and I can't even fathom how "unubtanium" was the best the writers could come up with.
