How much will health reform raise my taxes? I want real numbers?

My health insurance premiums keep getting higher and higher for no reason, isn't the health plan meant to give me cheap health insurance?

Because if I can save lots on health insurance, and pay a little more taxes, that just makes good sense to me.

In Canada, where I live, our sales tax is 14% - like on everything - including clothes, most food (not essentials like flour/bread/milk but everything else), vehicles, electronics, etc. We also have high 'sin' taxes, or excise taxes on booze and smokes. 12 beer runs from about $20 on up, and a pack of cigarettes is generally about $9 on up (in my province). These are some of the ways that Canadians pay for health care. And, as a student, I prefer it. I don't mind paying the extra - because when I get sick I can present my Medicare card and get coverage without having to worry about where the money is going to come from.

That's not to say the Canadian system is perfect, because it's far from perfect. But the problems inherent within the Canadian health care system seem easier to tackle than the issues within the American system.

The tax issue depends on what you make. But if we really wanted the best value for out health care dollar we would be implementing single payer. That isn't going to happen. What will be passed should improve things, however not as much as shutting down the greedy insurance companies.

there are no numbers because the bill it not out yet and nobody will know till its fully implemented. look at it this way, the government always gives us the low ball number, threes around 300mill people in the country, bill gates is not going to pay for them all by himself unless your on welfare any amount the government charges will be for you, your family and then alot of other people. its not going to be cheap, then there going to raise the numbers to help pay for things like the post office,

to give you any idea, OTB in new york state may go bankrupt but it brings in over 100mill a year in gambling from the horse tracks, and its going bankrupt because all the profits goes into its 1,350 employees pay/benefits/retirements etc... now i don't know if its just me but i think threes something really wrong with that. alot of if not ever thing the state/fed does that goes bankrupt if not everything.

health care will be no different and there just going to jack the taxes till we end up resemble cuba.

According to the Dear Leader Obama it won't raise them at all. The fantasy number is 0 dollars in new taxes. I'm sure everyone in the whole country - especially Libtard Loons of the Left believes it too. LOL.

    Here is my best estimate.

We are being told that health care is budget neutral. However, this compares six years of expenses with ten years of income.

When you look at fourteen years of income and expenses, the shortfall is one trillion dollars. That is an average of around $72 billion per year.

For 300 million people, that is $360 per person per year.

For a family of four, that is $1,440 per year.

You can also expect that your health insurance premiums will rise significantly, because government is forcing people to purchase insurance.

If the Democrats would clarify that along with a few other things, maybe there would be more support for health care reform.

Under Obama, taxes will increase, electric bills will skyrocket, and that is just the begining!

BTW: The people who created this spell checker need to learn how to spell! It's amazing! The uneducated have become the educators!

Obama made a promise that middle class wont have any tax increases, but that's virtually impossible. I can promise you won't be saving any money, but I don't have the exact numbers. Here is an article on the issue, hope it helps.

That is the goal. Unfortunately, some people are against any type of reform. Many Republican members of Congress just loathe the idea of Social Security, Medicare, and unemployment insurance.

They are passing the bill unfinished and the numbers are not valid.

They are based on 10 years profit and 4 years expenses.

I guess we are not paying for 6 of those years.
