  • Does Sarah Palin not have a sense of Humor?

So now the actress who did the voice on Family Guy says that Sarah Palin does not have a sense of humor. What do you think? Who is a better spokesperson for People with Down Syndrome- Sarah Palin or Andrea Fay Friedman, the 39-year-old actor and public speaker who played Ellen in that episode?

  • What do you think of this quote from Meghan McCain?

"Congressman Tancredo went on TV and he was the first opening speaker and he said, 'People who could not even spell the word vote or say it in English put a committed socialist ideologue in the White House whose name is Barack Hussein Obama.' And then he went on to say that people at the convention should have to pass literacy tests in order to be able to vote in this country, which is the same thing that happened in the 50's to prevent African Americans from voting. It's innate racism and I think it's why young people are turned off by this movement. And I'm sorry, but revolutions start with young people, not with 65-year-old people talking about literacy tests and people who can't say the word 'vote' in English."

  • Does the Cheney family have a problem with the Truth?

Dick and Liz have been standing in front of any microphone and camera repeating the same lie over and over- there were no terrorist attacks during the Bush administration. If you don't count 9/11, they are still lying. A simple google search proves them wrong:

    http://www.delawareliberal.net/2009/02/08/terroris...

The Republicans have said repeatedly that the US has not been attack by terrorists in 9/11. Here are some facts regarding terrorist attacks after 9/11.

    * 2001-10–16: Anthrax mailings in US. (NY Times)

    * 2002-07-04: Egyptian kills two Israelis at El Al ticket counter at the Los Angles International Airport. (NY Times)

    * 2002 October: Beltway Sniper (NY Times)

    * 2006- 03-6: Man drives jeep through crowd at university. (NY Times)

    * 2006-08-30: Man terrorizes San Francisco with SUV, kills one. (SF Chronicle)

    * 2006-09-12: Gunmen attack US Embassy in Syria (NY Times)

Then I hear this lie repeated here and other places and wonder how the neocons have any credibility and why anyone would listen much less believe anything they say?

  • If Obama and the Democrats are so far left, why was single payer not even at the table?

I keep hearing how far left they are but Obama keeps trying so hard to get moderate republican votes that he risks losing the progressive caucus. The most left health reform, single payer, wasn't even on the table.

    How do you explain that?

  • Obama has been in power for a year- what rights has he taken from you?

I keep hearing about how Obama is taking "all our rights" from people here. I want to know what rights he has specifically taken from you. This is not about what you think he is planning on or trying to take but what he already has taken from you. Please site the law or executive order done during the past year.

  • What happened to slow down you are moving too fast?

For months the cry of the tea party protesters and the talk radio clowns was Health Reform is moving too fast, what is the rush? Now, as the bills are being hammered out, they want to know -right now- what is in the public option- down to the exact cost of premiums and what it covers. They don't understand that this will take just a little more time since there isn't yet one version of the public option. They also seem to be woefully ignorant of the process in which a bill becomes a law. Try School House Rock- they do an excellent job and use cartoons so neo-con and tea baggers can understand.

So which is it- is Congress moving too fast or too slow?

Why did Glenn Beck have to murder a live frog on national TV? Was he confused, thinking the frog was a French spy?

  • Will the "Birthers" give up now and accept Obama as a citizen?

Now that yet another judge has thrown this case out, will the birthers give up the crazy claim that Obama wasn't born in Hawaii?

I even have a quote and a link:

U.S. District Court Judge Clay Land tossed out on Wednesday a complaint by an Army captain fighting deployment to Iraq by questioning the legitimacy of President Barack Obama.

Land also put attorney Orly Taitz, who represents Capt. Connie Rhodes and is a leader in the national “birther” movement, on notice by stating that she could face sanctions if she ever again files in his court a similar “frivolous” lawsuit — a document that at one point the judge states that a middle school student could find irony in.

“(Rhodes) has presented no credible evidence and has made no reliable factual allegations to support her unsubstantiated, conclusory allegations and conjecture that President Obama is ineligible to serve as president of the United States,” Land states in his order. “Instead, she uses her complaint as a platform for spouting political rhetoric, such as her claims that the president is ‘an illegal usurper, an unlawful pretender, [and] an unqualified imposter.’”

  • Has Glenn Beck ever taken an art history class?

In a recent rant, Beck talks about Rockefeller commissioning a Diego River mural that is full of communist propaganda. He is trying to prove that Rockefeller is a communist.

Why does he leave out the part about Rockefeller destroying the mural because it contains communist propaganda? He chose to destroy it, after paying for it, instead of letting it move to a museum. Could it be that the facts don't support his crazy claims?

Unlike Beck, I have studied art history and can site sources.

  • Challenge- can you find health insurance on your own?

Republicans who think that anyone who wants health insurance now can just walk in and buy it- I have a challenge for you.

Find private insurance. But it isn't quite so easy; there are some parameters. You can't buy through a group. You must tell them you have a chronic disease- juvenile diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis, heart problem or whatever you choose. Then come back and report who is willing to sell you insurance- it has to cover that pesky pre-existing condition. Let me know who and how much. Oh, it has to be in California. I know Massachusetts has already reformed their system but I can't buy into that program and neither can most of the rest of the country.

If you can find affordable insurance available in California, I will write to Obama and say don't bother with health reform.

    Good Luck.

  • Why does anyone believe the health reform myths?

I'll just start with one of the largest myths on this site: People who don't have Health Insurance don't have it because the are cheap and irresponsible- health care is available to anyone willing to pay for it.

Reality: There are between 12 and 15 million American Citizens- not illegals- who have no access to any affordable private or government run health care. Only 6 million could get it from work and choose not to.

And unlike many of you, I am more than willing to provide a link to prove my statement.

  • Why can't some people see there is a serious problem with the current health care system?

I read responses on here in which people don't seem to realize their is a problem. They don't understand that it isn't just people who are too lazy to work and people who spend money on silly things other than health care?

Those of you who are in the camp: Have you or a close family member had a serious and/or chronic illness in the last 10 years? Have you every had to buy insurance as an individual because your employer did not offer health coverage, and then gotten seriously ill?

I could be wrong but I would guess you have been fortunate enough to never have been in that situation.

  • How do you get dogs to stop doing their business on the deck?

We have 3 medium/large dogs and they have recently decided they prefer to do their business on our deck. There isn't an easy way to keep them off the deck because is doesn't have railings- it is a short deck that takes up about half our yard. They do it most on the posts of the pergola. Is there anything I can spray or sprinkle on the deck that will keep them from leaving their puddles on the deck?

  • Don't we already have "death panels"?

There are already death panels run by every private insurance company already. These are the panels that deny care when it gets to expensive. They throw people off insurance when they need it most and sell people insurance that has a high deductible with very inadequate coverage. And don't forget that group of people who are already sick with a chronic disease and cannot buy insurance anywhere at a reasonable price.

People die every day because of the decisions made by "death panels" run by private insurance companies. If you oppose death panels, you should be screaming for health reform not against.

  • How do you want health care reformed?

With all the rumors about the plan killing babies and grandma, we have gotten away from intelligent discourse. Polls say 70% of people want some kind of reform. What would you like to see in a health reform bill?

Personally I would like to see every American have access to affordable insurance and medication. The government doesn't have to pay for it just make it available for those who need it. This could be in the form of a government option or it could be making insurance companies open insurance for everyone- no more preexisting condition exclusions, no more dropping people because they got sick.

Second, I would like to ban drug companies from advertising. This might help control the cost of medication and divert more money to research.

  • Why isn't this the right time for health reform?

I keep hearing that we need some kind of reform but that it isn't the right time because we are in a recession. Don't they realize that the health care crisis is one of the contributing negatives in this economy.

    1. Many foreclosures and the majority of bankruptcies are the result of medical bills.

    2. People who have lost jobs cannot afford to pay the high cost of COBRA and thousands lose coverage each day.

    3. Covering more people will lead to more jobs in the health care industry.

  • Do you think there is a problem with our current health care system?

I believe we need health care reform. From many of the responses here it appears many of you don't think there is any problem. So I am curious to know:

Do you think there is a crisis in health care?

Do you know half the bankruptcies are due to medical cost? This problem has also contributed to foreclosures.

Do you know there are people with insurance who have treatment denied?Do you know that everyone is are paying more and more out of pocket?

Are you aware of how much health insurance is going up every year putting a huge burden on both families and businesses?

Do you realize that thousands of people loose insurance coverage everyday?

Do you realize there is an entire class of people who cannot buy insurance at any price because they are currently sick and have preexisting conditions? These people may have been dropped from their insurance or lost their jobs because they became too sick to work.

Do you know that we pay more here and get less than any other industrialized country? Do you know that we are no longer rated best in the world not because of the quality of our doctors and hospitals but because so many Americans do not have access to affordable care?

Just curious, what is your part affiliation (if any) and do you consider yourself liberal or conservative?
