What do you do when you're in an argument.... (read on)?

.... and the person sounds so stupid.

see, i wasn't really 'arguing'... it didn't get to the point of arguing lol.

i made a status on facebook about how upset i was when i came home from the pens game last night and found out that the pens had gotten rid of caputi.

i was distraught and this guy ends up commenting it saying how much we need to trade "ganchar" for a better winger for crosby.

i disagreed and he goes into this rampage about how much money "ganchar" is being paid and that it's not worth it and how "gerin" is way too old.

so when you're disagreeing/arguing with somebody....

Do you:

a) ignore them

b) argue with them

c) try to change their mind

d) talk to them until you find yourself getting angry

e) none of the above.

and do you have any funny stories about being in a hockey argument? i'd love to hear.

Update:

Killswitch - "Give him someone really good sid will make them better then trade that player toward the end of his contract for another younger version of that player. Like we did with recchi sstevens and numerouse other ppl. Its how u win. Whats more important winning or the name on the jersey! The only names that matter on this team are sid malkin flurry and stall."

hahahhahaha i seriously choked when i saw the guy write that statement. i was thinking "so what you want us to do is pick up unexperienced players. have them play with sid, which apparently to him will make them play like mario, and then sell them? that DOESN'T win cups.

i'd take an almost up to 40 points 'ganch' any day.

Update 2:

LITY - Yeah, it seems to me they gave up too. During the preseason practice I went to it seemed like Caputi meshed so well with the players. Especially Crosby and Kunitz. He had so much faith in the team and himself. and he has 47 points in 54 games - a lot better than his stats last year - he had 45 in like 60 some games.

I kind of knew we weren't gonna keep him though due to the fact that when a player would get hurt they would send up somebody other than Caputi.

I wish him well tho. He seems a lot happier with the leafs and he'll get to actually play in the NHL :)

Update 3:

Also:

"(Caputi) was good at banging home rebounds, good in front of the net. That is definitely something we'll miss," Johnson said."

In my opinion, we could have used an awesome in-front-of-the-net type guy.

Can you shed some light on Caputi................one of the reasons he was traded was that Pittsburgh didn't feel he was a viable offensive player in the current system and wasn't going to be an impact player at the NHL level with the Pittsburgh Penguins (words used by Ray Shero during the post-trade with Dave Nonis and the NHL)

Based on Shero's comments, and other comments around the league, it looks like the penguins gave up on Caputi at the NHL level and had no desire to have a Bruce Boudreau/Darren Haydar type player in the minors any longer than they had to.

So, what's the scoop. His scouting report looks good, he's played in the NHL a few times and I didn't think he looked overmatched...........what has happened in Wilkes-Barre that would give Shero and the pens the idea that he's not a match for the team in the long run? (I rarely watch AHL games)

  • Typically I don't "chat" online with people...my experience has been that the level of discourse is, at best, not that good and with people able to hide behind the cloak of anonymity (it's a myth, but work with me here), you get unfiltered bloviating (my rule is simple- I don't say anything online I wouldn't say in person).

No offence, but reading facebook profiles (when hiring people we always check social media and search engines) isn't exactly like reading the Magna Carta or the next winner of the Booker Prize.

At the end of the day, Pittsburgh's GM has won a Stanley Cup...if CrosbyMalkinLover7187-4evr (or some similar screen name) can make that claim then great. Otherwise...I think I know who I would probably listen to.

As to the trade...Ponikarovsky was one of a very limited number of assets the Leafs could deal (wow- Stempniak for a 7th-round pick...plan the parade boys!)...the Leafs got a decent prospect (another dozen of these and the Leafs could have a really good organisational farm system), Pittsburgh gets a 2nd-line winger who can score. Short-term Pittsburgh wins the deal (since right now, Ponikarovsky is a better player than Caputi); long term maybe Toronto does a bit better. Which makes sense in that Pittsburgh made that deal with an eye on this season, and the Leafs are in rebuild mode.

You could point out that in last year's Game 7 against Detroit...Crosby played one shift in the 3rd period...ask your friend who scored the two goals that won the game (hint- it wasn't Crosby or Malkin).

    f) declare them an idiot not worth the mental energy.

Go back over the Hockey Category history until June 2009 and open up any questions regarding the Flyers, Chris Pronger, and Ray Emery. There, you'll find all sorts of stupidity thrown my way as I correctly predicted that John Stevens would be fired, the Flyers would be lucky to get into the playoffs, Chris Pronger and Ray Emery wouldn't make a difference, and they'll regret allowing Knuble to walk. (I don't take credit for it though, because the tree outside my window can predict what will happen to the Flyers.)

Never try to reason with a goon worshipper, you've got better things to spend your time on.

  • 1.) That's the spirit... just throw away depth/experience/important players on our team for flashy wingers. Why of course... no Stanley Cup team has ever had depth, right? That guy is a tool.

2.) I loved Luca Bazooka as much as anyone, but the 2010 NHL Playoffs aren't going to wait for him to fully develop. Poni gives us such a great chance, and will just be a perfect fit for Malkin.

3.) Gonchar is getting paid what he deserves... and can probably get more than 5 million per on the open market.

As for the choices : B... but in a non-offensive way unless they're just making completely idiot remarks.

Source(s): Hmmm... my friend and I got into an argument about Jordan Staal being a bust. He called him a bust and not deserving of the 2nd overall pick and should have chosen Toews instead. I don't think Toews would be doing as good as a job as Jordan if he had to play on the 3rd line, behind Sid and Geno. Which, I find anybody who thinks Staal is overrated because of not being a flashy goal/point getter, ridiculous. Crosby and Geno do plenty of that, he needed a different role. My friend was still too narrow-minded to change his mind on it, but hey, opinions are opinions.

Remind me not to do something that really pisses you off.

BTW you weren't playing Caputi and you will love Pony. It will look like him and Malkin were born to play together. Take the Guerin money and sign Pony to the four year he's looking for and you'll become a dynasty.
