my dear Catherine E.
i beg to differ with you, you cannot say that no one knows for sure of Gods existence. i know for sure. i have felt him like you'd feel the wind, yet couldn't see either.
when i pray, quite a bit of the time i ask Jesus to wash me clean with the blood of the Lamb and He does, from my head to my toes, i can feel a sensation; it feels warm and tingly, it starts from the top and goes on down to the bottom of me. i get peacefulness and tranquility that i really can't describe,but it's absolutely beautiful. i actualy feel him, he's got his arms wrapped around me too. this is his son Jesus that has done all this so i would be clean as snow when i talk to the Father our God. the 1st time i ask him to cleanse me with the blood of the Lamb i also asked him to wrap his arms around me and now everytime i ask him in prayer to clense me he wraps his arms around me to confort me. i could tell you so much more and pass a lie detector test. i have been in the presence of God.

Agnostics neither accept nor deny the existence of either. Atheists do not believe in ANY gods.

An atheist believes there is no God. It wouldn't make much sense for an atheist to believe in Satan, as most atheists reject the belief in anything supernatural.
There is really no such thing as agnostic. An agnostic is either an atheist who admits he might be wrong, or a theist who doesn't want to pick a specific religion. Someone might believe in God (Jehovah Psalms 83:18) but be unsure about the role of Jesus Christ or the Prophets and so consider himself an agnostic. Some so-called agnostics might believe in Satan, others not. Believing in Satan is not the same as worshipping Satan, obviously, or one would be a Satanist, not an agnostic.

If an atheist doesn't believe in God then they don't believe in satan, i think you are misinterpreting words, when an atheist says they don't believe in God that means they don't believe he exists at all not that they don't want to worship him regardless of existence, there will be atheists who would and wouldn't worship God if he was proven to exist, to recap an atheist does not believe in the existence of God. There is, unfortunately, some disagreement about the definition of atheism. It is interesting to note that most of that disagreement comes from theists — atheists themselves tend to agree on what atheism means. Christians in particular dispute the definition used by atheists and insist that atheism means something very different. The broader, and more common, understanding of atheism among atheists is quite simply "not believing in any gods." No claims or denials are made — an atheist is just a person who does not happen to be a theist. Sometimes this broader understanding is called "weak" or "implicit" atheism. Most good, complete dictionaries readily support this.
An agnostic does not deny the existence of God and heaven but holds that one cannot know for certain whether or not they exist.

I highly doubt anyone could rationally claim to be an atheist or agnostic but say they believe in satan, since surely the idea of satan goes hand in hand with God. But maybe there are some loopholes that I don't know about.
The only significant difference is that an atheist is basically sure there's no God, and an agnostic is still hedging his bets.

Agnosticism is nothing more than acknowledging that the existence of God is unknowable. You can be agnostic-atheist, and you can also be agnostic-theist. No one KNOWS for certain whether or not "God" exists, therefore, we are all technically agnostic. (Yes, even those who claim to "know" for certain that God does/doesn't exist.)
The question you need to ask yourself is "What do I THINK / BELIEVE?" If you don't *believe* God exists, then you are not a theist. You are an atheist, even if you acknowledge that you don't know for certain. It also works in reverse, if you believe that God DOES exist, then you're a theist, even if you acknowledge that you don't know for certain.
An atheist is simply someone who doesn't BELIEVE in God(s). It doesn't necessarily mean that you have to commit to saying that there is *definitely* no "God".
"Agnostic" is really a term that should be considered unnecessary, because it includes everyone.
The terms "atheist" and "theist" are based on what the individual BELIEVES, not on what the ultimate fact would be.

A MYSTIC is a person who derives his CERTAINTY of the truth of a statement from faith. A mystic claims that there is a supernatural reality and/or supernatural entities, even if their existence violates the laws of physics, chemistry and biology and cannot be proven by the evidence of the senses. A mystic, if he practices faith consistently, can be certain that someone is guilty of a crime by inner "revelation" without the necessity for physical evidence.
An ATHEIST is a person who derives his CERTAINTY of the truth of a statement from logical reasoning. An atheist, by virtue of logic, does not grant credibility to someone who affirms the existence of something but is unable to prove it. An atheist is certain, for example, that someone is guilty of a crime because all evidence goes beyond the shadow of the doubt.
An AGNOSTIC is a person who denies the existence of CERTAINTY of any kind of abstract knowledge, therefore, implicitly he regards logical reasoning a useless mental effort. An agnostic is a worshiper of doubt and uncertainty. He grants equal value to real and unreal, to what is true and what is false, to justice and injustice, to rational and irrational, to moral and immoral. By denying logic, a consistently agnostic person cannot be certain of anything.
Psychologically, the atheist is the healthiest. Between the mystic and the agnostic, psychologically the mystic is healthier because self-esteem come from the concept of certainty of one's ideas. the agnostic is the most uncertain person and subject to the greatest confusion in logical reasoning.
Best wishes to all for your ability to reason logically, which is an absolute prerequisite for the success and the improvement of your physical and spiritual life! Dr Evol

Atheists do not believe in god or satan. If you believe in satan but not god, then you're a satanist, not an atheist. I hate being compared to satanists, they are definitely NOT the same thing. Atheists do not believe in the possibility of the existence of either of these things. Agnostics believe in the POSSIBILITY of the existance of a god or satan, but are not certain if they truly exist.

We're both atheists, agnostics are just either uninformed of the definition of atheist or the pompus types who like to act like they're on a high horse for being on the "middle ground".
Atheists don't claim to know anything either.

a = not or without
theism = belief in god
a+theism = without a belief in god
a = not or without
gnostic, from gnosis = knowledge
a+gnostic - one who is without knowledge (of god's existence; inferred)
neither presupposes any belief in anything.
most who call themselves agnostic or atheist are technically both. Everyone is agnostic in the sense that no one knows if any god exists.
Most confuse atheism with antitheism
anti = against, opposed to
theism = belief in god
antitheism = against a belief in god
Hope this clears things up!

An agnostic thinks that whether or not there is a God is unknowable, and they are open to the possibilitiy.
Atheists simply do not believe in God, or the Devil, or any of that.
And no, neither worship the devil.
