Is it worth the money to install a performance chip into my 97 Pontiac Grand AM GT?

Please don't bother with the "chip." Real companies do NOT make a REAL chip, it doesn't exist. Those stupid super ads that claim 100+everything are totally fake. It won't do anything, it won't trick your computer and it won't give you better gas mileage. The only thing it might do is trick your mind into thinking the car is going faster when really, all you're doing is pushing on the gas harder to test it out. Don't fall into it's gimmicks. The only real horsepower chips are made for real sports cars like Corvettes, Camaros, Fire bird Trans Ams and others. Maybe even the GTO, but that would be the only Pontiac companies would make something like that for that is the real heavy duty deal. I have an 02 GAGT, it's supercharged and I'm still only running in the high 13s. Don't be fooled by stupid stuff man, even an intake and exhaust won't do Sh*t without a proper tune. Don't waist your money. If you wanna mod a car, then I suggest getting a car that is meant to be modded. Not some everyday common car that grandma drives.

you have a 13 year old wanna be Performance car...A performance chip will probably cause u more glitches and problems and the increased performance will be virtually un notice able...ask yourself..when have u ever seen a grand am racing, on the track or street..I don't even know of modified Grand Ams...the money u would have to spend to get the performance of say a LS1 Trans am would in be close to or over 10 grand,...

the answer from lwjksu89 will be authentic,i have were given considered that happen until eventually eventually now.the wonderful and delicate combustion gasses can leak into the cooling gadget growing to be remarkable rigidity and warm temperature.the thanks to ensure is with a rigidity tester or merely watch the coolant contained in the radiator at the same time as the engine maintains to be cool and word if rigidity is progression.

Probably not if that is the only mod you are going to do. I doubt you can buy a chip, you probably need a new PCM. That is more of a suporting mod if anything.
