Anyone work for Spheris Transcription?
I do and am thinking about resigning to seek employment elsewhere. I have been working there about 9 months. I just don't feel my paycheck equals all the transcribing I do each day. Any comments would be appreciated.

First, I'll fess up and tell you that I work for Spheris in the billing department. In fact, I'm the guy that writes the software that counts documents and turns them into invoices for our customers. I can tell you that there is an enormous amount of effort that goes into ensuring that every customers invoices and every MT's paycheck is absolutely accurate. I would suggest that you go on more that just your "feeling" and try and calculate what you think your paycheck should be and if that doesn't equal what you receive then contact your MT supervisor or the payroll dept so that we can try and figure out what the problem is if there is one. I ensure you there is no master plan to try and cheat you or anyone else out of pay. Occassionally, problems do occur and if you find one we absolutely want your help in getting to the source of the problem. I hope you do not make an irrational decision and leave the company.

Perhaps before making a irrational decision (up and quitting your job), search indeed.com(type city and state, click ad go to salary) to find out what transcriptionist are making in your area now. Then look for jobs. I wouldn't jump the gun considering it is a blessing to be working anywhere where most states have a 6-14% unemployment rate. Many times we find ourselves overworked and underpaid and there ain't nothing you can do about it. Good luck

You should submit a search query at google.com such as "spheris transcription scam" which will bring up any number of complaints by present employees, etc.
Good luck!
