Will there ever be peace between christians and atheists?

When will christians realize that all the other religions and atheists live in peace and only christians attack?!!

Self defense and reaction is what you are complaining about!!

Do you not recognize that Christians are provoking retaliation and repudiation for their terrible attitudes?!!

Perhaps if Christians stopped their intolerant, egotistical, hate filled and bigoted postings things might change!!

Perhaps if Christians stopped eschewing education, science, evolution works of fiction and much, much more things might change!!

Perhaps if Christians stopped being the only religion opposing human rights and persecuting gays, pro choice and so much more things might change!!

Perhaps if Christians stopped demanding freedom of religion whilst they deny it to all non Christians and persecute them things might change!! !!!

If Christians rediscovered the god of love and forgiveness and put aside all those terrible human emotions things would definitely change!!!!

Why are Christians so afraid of people who simply do not believe in any god?!!!! Surely it can only be because they are so afraid that atheist are right and they are wrong or it would not bother them!!!!!!

Time for Christians to understand that it is not about god, jesus or belief but about the terrible Christians attitudes and behavior!!

As soon as they rediscover the loving god Christianity used to have and start acting like it the problem will cease!!!

Sure. The day will come when God will roast all the atheists and the Christians will rejoice . . . and then there will be peace. Although I've never found a lot of solace in a Pyrrhic victory! Wonder why the Christians do? There'll be no Christians left in the hereafter, 'cause there is no God or hereafter so both sides lose; no one is left . . . that's even worse than a Pyrrhic victory . . . it's total annihilation! It's no victory at all. Wow, I've stumbled onto something . . . existence is meaningless!

To answer your question...I don't see how that's possible unless one or the other..or both give up their beliefs...and I just don't see that happening. The point to all of the blustering and grandstanding, in my opinion is that SOME people on both sides of the argument somehow have the mindset that if they are really, really caustic and offensive against the other mindset..that somehow validates their stance and solidifies their belief. I say that, because I (as an agnostic) have been accused of being a non-committal fence sitter; and even a coward who simply wants to end up on the side that 'wins'....if there is even such a thing...simply because I don't/won't take either side with enough vehemence to suit them.

Each side sees the other as the ulitmate enemy.

Atheists see Christians as hinderers of human progress, Christians see Atheists as (And I quote): "evil demons intent on the hating of God they pretend not to believe in"

It's fairly clear which side is more rational in their antagonizing, but that obviousness doesn't stop the feud.

It is so sad that atheists hate Christians so much! It makes no sense to me.

It makes me wonder......if an atheist saw someone walking toward someone that had a gun, about to shoot them and they didn't know it....would the atheist tell that person, or would they let them walk into their own death?

I would hope that they would TELL them what was about to happen to them.....

Christians are trying to do the same thing. Tell them about Jesus.

What I see happening on YA is that someone asks a question they genuinely want to know about, and a Christian tries to help by telling them the TRUTH of the Bible. The atheist is angry and upset about this, and bashes the Christian and their beliefs. If the atheist is so angry and upset over the things that a Christian believes....why even hang out in here? Why upset themselves so much?

One side prides knowledge and investigation, while the other prides unwavering faith in something that cannot be substantiated. Apples and oranges, dogs and cats, etc. It's like asking if there will ever be peace between fire and water. It will only happen when the water quenches the fire, or when the fire evaporates the water.

Only when christians learn to tolerate people thinking differently to them ans stop their attacks will the atheist self defense stop being necessary.

As soon as theists of all stripes stop trying to foist off their religious beliefs on me or to infringe upon my rights because of their beliefs, especially through the force of law, then I'll be happy to be at peace with them.

I don't generally care what religious people think. I care what they do. When they stop doing it, there'll be no issue with me.
