The production/formation of cells depends on the kind of cell and a person's age. Certain cells, like erythrocytes, are constantly being produced (several million every minute). Sperm cells are produced in huge numbers when a man is in his late teens, but then slows down. Skin cells, like other kinds of epithelium, are constantly renewed because the outer cells are constantly being rubbed off.
