Asthma return after years without attack or symptoms?

I had mild asthma as a child but never really had a bad attack, yesterday after about 6 years without any symptoms I had a bad attack, I had severe chest pain, trouble breathing, wheezing and coughing. I used my inhaler and that helped some but it took over 12 hours before I felt really better, but I am still feeling short of breath.

I am going to see my dr. on Monday but what I want to know is what would cause my asthma to return after so long, I thought I had outgrown it and more importantly why is it so bad.

Not at all unusual. You NEVER "outgrow" your asthma. If you got it, you got it for life. You may not have an attack for years or even decades, but you ALWAYS have asthma.

As for triggers, the most common ones are infections like colds or allergens such as pollens. But emotional stress can certainly be a trigger among many things.

Same thing happened to me earlier this week. No joke. I had to go to the doctor and he prescribe me a new asthma inhalant. This is why I all of a sudden had trouble: It snowed a lot where I live, and it also rained a whole lot before it started getting warm. The water induced major mold growth, and the warmth was like an incubator. It was so much, that it put my immune system off the edge. That's what asthma is, your immune system is causing inflammation in your wind pipe. I don't know why you are having this problem, but maybe it's along the same lines. Too much allergens in the air you're not used to, and it is just enough to get you going again. It stinks, I know.

I feel your pain. I've had asthma for 14 years now and have seen several doctors. The truth is, there is no known cure for asthma at the moment. But the symptoms can be prevented. It really depends on what causes your brother's asthma. Mine is usually dust and hot weather. But I think the universal method is using the control inhaler.

I cured my Asthma the natural way?
