What do you think of former Bush speechwriter David Frum's analysis of the healthcare bill's passage?

He's predicted big gains for the conservative entertainment industry (Fox News, Rush et al.) but long term losses for the Republican Party. Here's a link to the controversial blog post:

It comes down to a difference in marketing tactics. The republicans are hoping the base can be fired up and angry enough to turn out in larger numbers than the democrats. Frum appears to prefer an approach from the past, maybe fifty years ago. Modern marketing techniques have shown that the negativism can be a potential campaign cash cow followed by election victories. I don't see anyone going back to what Frum is proposing.

David Frum understands the issues better than his lock-step Republican party members. From his lament regarding the GOP health care obstructionism, he's obviously sounding the alarm and is obviously on target.

Wow! That kind of reason and rationalization from a former Bushie!!!! I must admit I am shocked. Maybe if more conservatives would listen to reasonable people like him, rather than Rush Limbaugh, they would be in a much better situation.

As much as I hate to agree with Frum (Mr. Axis of Evil), he's correct this time. He's probably the last remaining Republican capable of embarrassment..

The guy is right and unless they plan on running Glenn Beck or Palin in 2012 they have not got a chance. They chose to lie with the dogs.

I think Frum is an honest conservative, something that until now i considered to be an oxymoron. Frum hit the nail right on the head.

One of the hardest things to do in your life is to stand up in front of the world and admit that you made a mistake. It is also one of the most mature, adult things to do.

He's always been considered marginal and eccentric. He's got a few issues, if you know what I mean.
