I want to be able to run?
I'm a swimmer, but I want to start running to build up my endurance. But I recently found out that my legs really hurt whenever I run. First of all, what can I do to get past this? I've given my legs a rest but nothing seems to be working. Secondly, how long should I run every day to get really good?

Get a good pair of running shoes.
I like New Balance. I get the ones with motion control. They are not cheap, but they are the only shoes I can run in.
Start slow. Work your way up.
I interval train. I run a minute or two or three and then walk a minute.
Over time you can build that mileage up doing that.
It is hard to say I am going to go start jogging. and start doing 5 miles a day.
Just because you can swim doesn't mean jogging will come easily. The systems for cardio are not universal.
I started at 2 miles per day and now I run 80 miles a month.

I had this problem too when I started running so what I was told to do is run for 1 min walk for 2. This way you start to ease in running. If you are getting shin splits google stretches to help with that.
